The NEW Xbox 360

If I didn't already have a 360, then sure. But I wouldn't trade in my Elite for one. Plus, that shiny plastic shows dust too easily.

And I hate to dust stuff :)

Not to mention I don't like the idea of a smaller version of hardware that has a history of overheating.

Are they going to discontinue the old style, or keep the arcade? How many consoles do they need on the market? - and about DAMN time for wi-fi - that's the biggest bullshit move selling adapters for $100.

Four words....Red Ring of Death! Is it me,or does it seem like consoles have advanced technologically but regressed in terms of reliability.I don't know of many people who have owned an Xbox or a XBox 360 that didn't have to have it sent in for repairs of some sort.

I read that the defect rate on the 360 was somewhere around 30-40%. That was in game informer about a year ago.

Hopefully the new system fixes the reliability issues.

I hated having to tell people that the elite doesen't have a better cooling system than the arcade/pro.

Apparently they have the failure rate is at a minimum with the jasper. I would get one if I didnt already own 3 wish they would have shown more games and less hardware.

Arcade and Elite are dropping to $149 and $249 respectively per interview I wastch online after the press conference. No clue on whether they'll continue to run 3 SKUs for the long haul.

They've already addressed the reliability issues.

With the original release 360, 30% fail rate was about right. Some friends of mine have had 360s fail two or three times. Even the Falcon 360s had a disappointing failure rate. But each iteration of the 360 hardware has reduced the RROD failure rate.

I have a Jasper 360, and it runs very cool. Failure rate of these is supposed to be less than 1%.

PS3 failure rate is supposed to be around 10%-15% for the fat ones, again this is supposedly improved with the slim. PS3 seems to suffer problems with the drive not being able to read discs.

And I hate the glossy piano black... Ugh. Fingerprint and scratch magnet. I'm happy with my 360, I won't be upgrading. I don't even think I'll bother with Kinect unless some huge killer app comes out for it.

Wii satisfied my motion sensing controller urges, and basically I've found that there are only a couple of games that really use motion sensing well at all. The rest just replace a button press with shaking the controller, which isn't very innovative.

It could have looked worse - at least they're trying new things - and I think it's the right/necessary step if you're going to introduce another iteration of the same damn console. What is this the 3rd hardware revision for 360's?

I'll wait about 6-7 months for people to suffer with the bugs it may have. I refuse to buy another machine from them until it is verified that it has 0 issues. I am on my 3rd 360. Damn you RROD!!!

Thats why they have a 3 year warranty for rrod

Is it true the buttons on these controllers aren't push buttons, but rather sensor buttons?

So, basically what they are saying is, they are taking a step backward compared to Sony? The first gen PS3 has the touch sensing buttons, and the new one has actual buttons...

crazy...

They're also adding more USB ports in the back, and this one won't need a separate power cord for Kinect (if you care about that). The exisiting 360's will have to have a second plug to power the Kinect.

The people that were at the MS press conference at E3 all get one for free... bastards.

I'd take one for free...but that's about it. As for Kinect, that's cool, but not enough to warrant a whole new system, imo. Of course, as impressed as I was with the original demos for Natal, I don't know that the price tag is going to make the Kinect worth it. How long until the novelty wears off?
