The New Mortal Kombat

I downloaded the demo and I have to say I really enjoy playing it.I'll definitely be downloading the full version when it comes out.

Looks awesome, I remember playing UMK3 at the local Pizza shop all the time.
I'm really glad they are going back to their roots, I had almost given up hope on the series at one point.

Those games were....okay.The konquest mode was pretty cool but not that in-depth and mostly linear. Shaolin Monks was what the konquest modes should have been.Plus the boss battles on SM were epic!

so how does everyone feel about it? I gotta say I am starting to get dissapointed. watching the gameplay videos and really not doing it for me. I think the characters all walk retarded, its like there still 3d based. (you know what I mean). I feel like the side step bowlegged walk is retarded. The gameplay does not look smooth at all. The early trailers look awesome but the gameplay videos just dont seem the same. Maybe its just me, I havent played it so i dont know yet. But so far, not to happy :(

Like you said, we haven't played it yet so it could be good. But there are built in problems with any new MK game.

Namely, MKII got everything right and the design team was still fired up about making the game. None of the sequels have been able to measure up because they're all uninspired. The lack of enthusiasm shows up most obviously in the fatalities from 3 onward. Some of the fatalities in 9 look like the team brought their A game, but a lot of them are tired rehashes that gamers have already seen over and over since the original MK. On top of that, with each release the marketing people go on and on about how it's the "goriest, bloodiest, most over the top..." game ever. After a while even the die hard MK fans check out in accordance with the "fool me once..." idiom. :)

Not that it's all the designers' fault either. The hype and draw of the game in a pre-internet arcade is much different than the draw for a console game that already has pages and pages of moves, fatalities, and cheats prior to release day. The mystery is gone.

I totally agree! But I will hold judgement on the game until I play it myself.

yea that video has been floating around for a while, I guess no one important cares about it. In an interview ed said he watched and said it was just someone who liked to make independent films. I wish they would use the idea, seems a lot more promising than the 2 we have. I still like the first one though LOL

I remember watching that a while back and digging it, but not really caring for some of the back story changes.

yea but with that movie my whole thing is I like the way its stuff thats "(QUOTE) somewhat realistic".. I say that meaning the story with reptile, born with a birth defect, baraka, surgeon who put the blades in. As opposed to the first mk movie where outta no where theres a lizard who runs around invisible and turns a statue into his human form. get what I mean?? I like the backstorys like that and I feel like if that was the trailer for the actual movie, then it would without a doubt be one of the best movies based on a video game hands down.
