The Mystery DK Junior Chip...Help me ID this sucka

Got a DK Jr board in for repair that has a lot of rusted through
soldered in chips. There is one real bad one at 4D on the CPU board,
but the number of the chip isn't there.


I looked on another DK Jr set I have here and got the same result...
blank top to the chip.


What chip is supposed to go there?

Was not somewhere that allowed me to download anything... so I couldn't check it there. Back at my desk with the board now, and looking into it I find it's a custom chip

Time to pull off one of those miracle chip leg fixes that I've had to do before. Ugh.

Yeah, usually when they have no markings on the top they're a custom chip... but replacing chip legs is fun! I always end up taking a dremel to cut away part of the package, and then solder a solid copper wire to the thick metal trace running to the middle of the chip. It usually holds up pretty well. Sometimes I'll put epoxy over it, but only if I think it'll get abused.
