This goes out to my fellow mame friends out there. Im in the process of building one, and my simple question is, what is the MOST ideal pc tower for a mame setup to basically run every system ever made. Especially the mortal kombats, killer instincts, carnevil, blitz, etc......

Btw, im not an arcade butcher, i prefer dedicated overall, and for the games that i truly love, i will buy! Look at my list of already owned games, and youll see im being truthful.

Thanks to all who offer their mame expertise!

www.arcadecontrols.com is your best resource for this stuff, lots of folks over there have built many many different types of cabs and there are whole threads dedicated to what you are after. Its a great site.

Im running my mame showcase on my old PC that features an athlon 6400+ with an ATI 4850 1gb card and 4 gigs of ram. This is a bit overkill but I can run Street fighter IV at 60+ frames a second. The PC can easily handle those games you mentioned but Im pretty sure Blitz still doesnt run very well on mame. Hope this helps a bit.

A mame cab can be done tastefully without destroying a cab.

Sure can, in fact a mame cab can be done without modifying a cab at all, using all original hardware and easily converted back to standard jamma.

I'm full of mame love, it's a huge reason why we all found this place / love for our long-forgotten video game addiction.

But I don't keep up on current PC stuff.

I would imagine having any fast machine with the most kickassy video card you can get, and a ton of RAM would do the most help, if that helps at all...?

Wow honestly i havent felt so relieved! I honestly thought i was going to be cursed or banned for mentioning the ungodly arcade term "Mame".

Now this is where i tell you that im turning a faded mk1 into a mame, only butchering that i will be doing is drilling a run button, and the killer instinct / street fighter 6 button set up.....

Oh and forcing a 27 inch VGA monitor into it!

Thee will be a few who will come out to butcher you; you can pretty much count on that.

I had to go to a core2duo overclocked to 4GHz to run Blitz right. I think there was still a few little freezes once in a while. I haven't tried to play it for a while, so I don't remember for sure. I want to try a Sandy Bridge i7 one of these days, but I have been spending my hobby money on other stuff lately.
