Marble Madness is way more fun than I remember it being. I can build up a freakin' sweat playing that game.

I gotta say the game gets real freakin' hard when it hits the levels with the "sucker horns" on it. I can get past them, to the catapult, through the part with the "pips" or "pins" that rise randomly...down and across the jump but that's about where I run out of time.

My best score to date is 30,960.

Great game and the dedicated Atari cab looks so nice. It's definitely a challenging game. I remember playing it on the NES a lot when I was a kid. :)

Love my marble madness, cant wait to finish it off, vinyl from rich arrived today and my system 1 board is out for fixing.

When you play do you use both trackballs or just one?

next time FullThrottle has a "i'm getting kicked out of my house!" fire sale it's my turn to buy his Marble Madness. it's the only System 1 game i'm really interested in owning.

Sounds about as far as I got on the NES version which I think has the same if not very similar level layout.

Was playing the Sega Genesis version last week. Finally got myself past the 'wacky race". The last level is crazy hard. Wish there was a continue option.

When I was a kid, I could only make it to the Final race in the NES version.

Then about 10 years ago, I hooked up my NES and started playing. I got so that I could beat it every time. Best race, I only died 7 times.

That's where i die most of the time as well. When you make it past there, you get the "wacky level". Make sure to smash a lot of the little wormy guys when you get there to give yourself more time. After that level its just one more.

I used to own the HS on my machine, until John McAllister got interested in it and decided to spend 30 minutes playing it.

I will still beat it someday, over and over. And I will be able to say, "hey ya'll watch this."

Dumb question - but did that kid finish the whole game?

If there are no other boards, that tempers my need to pick up a Marble Madness. Don't get me wrong, he's crazy good at it, but what was there, 10 boards?
Yeah, game ends after completing the 6th level.
1: Practice
2: Beginner
3: Intermediate
4: Aerial
5: Silly (goes backwards from bottom to top)
6: Ultimate

Once you play through the first 5 races a couple of times, it's not that difficult. The Ultimate race is tough because the end of the maze shifts, and you have to really nail the timing. And by the time you reach the Ultimate race, you'll be pretty winded if you're out of practice.

Fun 1-player game, outstanding 2-player game.

Thanks, I was mainly interested in the 2-player aspect.

I guess I was expecting something more than 6 screens/races. Oh well, glad I didn't spend too much effort acquiring it!

Maybe some can chime in here, but how many have actually finished the game? Its so freaking hard. Awesome though. Ive never seen the silly race on the arcade version.

I've finished the arcade version twice. It's hard and certainly not something I can do every time. maybe if I were in better shape. You get a workout playing the game.

Here is some inspiration for you Frizz....

This video is not legitimate.

If the "live" camera inlay covering the player's hands
ever panned up to show the screen, it would give it
a touch of authenticity. Until then, a quick tutorial
in MAME .INP files will help you understand what you
are actually watching here.

I can consistently get to the Ultimate race, but can only get to the finish line about half the time.

How about you edumacate us...

... I've used a couple of the guys tricks and they worked thus far...

Marble Madness is my all time favorite game. Not only is it fun and crazy difficult, but it is good exercise. And, IMHO, it has the best soundtrack of any game out there. It was definitely ahead of it's time.
