i think it would've been cool. definitely give more depth to the game at the very least. when i play tron i always think of the parts in the movie if i'm in light cycles, or tanks, etc.

I was at vintage amusement superstore, it must have been about 1999 and someone brought in a replica they made that was going to be used for dvd extras. I think Gene was helping them get it working. I think they said the original one in the movie wasn't made very well and disappeared or was destroyed soon after the movie was made.

The internet archive isn't working very well but here is an old page. Sometimes it works.

that's what i thought! the movie was definitely cool for it's time and the release of the game in cojunction with the movie i think would have catapulted both to the next level.

As many folks who are on here with custom handiwork in their game rooms, I really can't believe I haven't seen more of them out there. The software works fine (I downloaded it some time back) and all it would need is the cabinet and control panel built.

This is another one of those classics that I could totally see spawning a custom cab in everyone's game room, just like Space Paranoids or something like that.

there is software for the game? where can I get it!

I do think if the game came out right after the movie it would of been a big hit.

Man, I have always wished they had The game mass produced. Is their original software for it still out there?????

Starfighter

ok things for the record

The orginal
was made fine but was destroyed after filming

The Second one Was made by a fx company for the 20th aniversery DVD
they used the known screen size (25") and math to figure out the exact size of the
parts of the cab. (it like the screen model was a prop (ie did not play a game )

The third one was made by 'DOC" (Bows to his greatness) and friends
Doc also has some of the props from the last starfighter and story boards

(he also has a fantastic arcade collection)

I have talked to the fx company who looked to see if they had any files left on it around
(they confirmed about the destruction from the production company when looking for source material )

Doc was kind enough to send me a bunch of pictures not on his website
as I had some questions during my own construction

I have taken pics durning the whole process and will share when its all said and done
the game works great and is a blast .

SUPER BIG THANKS TO BRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (only took me a year to get him to cut it out for me ) heheheheh

There is another person who is well known who is helping me out with a part of this
but that is for another time

I think you just have to create a free account on fileplanet not subscribe. I just downloaded it and didn't subscribe.

Must have been my lucky day then. When I tried to download it, I got redirected to a page asking for $6.40 a month or $39.90 for the whole year.

I wouldn't even pay that for pron.

Glad to hear you guys found it- would probably take me a while to locate my copy bc it's on one of any myriad of hard drives. :(
