Okay... um, I'm not really a fan of survival, we're the last people alive, survive the hordes of [things] games.
Fair enough. I fell out of the whole survival genre years ago after getting tired of Resident Evil and its many clones.
I'm not terribly far into tLoU yet (I didn't get as much time to play as I'd hoped), but I'm definitely enjoying it, more so than any similar type game that I've probably ever played. I think I probably enjoy the stealth aspect of it more than anything, even though I'm usually pretty bad a stealth games like Metal Gear Solid until I'm about half way through the game
I replayed the beginning for the wife tonight but she doesn't seem interested. She thinks the mechanics of the game (crafting, stealth, lack of supplies, and just general realism vs many of the zombie/apocalyptic games of recent years) seem cool, but doesn't feel it's really one to watch like Assassin's Creed and Uncharted. She actually said the graphics seemed to take a step back from Uncharted...though I don't know if I agree with that. I can see what she's saying, but I think it's just different - not really "better" or "worse".
Regardless, it's reviewing well

I'd say if you liked Uncharted, mixed with a bit of Metal Gear, and if you like collecting stuff to craft into supplies, then you'll probably like this. There doesn't really seem to be hoards like some of these games have and so far I've dealt more with other survivors than I have the infected. Though based on gameplay so far, I think that's going to change soon - it all depends on location and your mission. I think it's really trying to show that it's almost as dangerous 'inside' as it is 'outside'.
