Unlike the original Kong Off, this event was pitched to me by none other than Steve Weibe and Andrew Laidlaw.
This event will NOT be held at the Richie Knucklez' showroom, nor at my home game room, but a location almost 2000 miles across the country.

The 1-Up Barcade (directly across from the Colorado Rockies Stadium).

Slated for some time in the fall of 2012, it will follow the same guidelines as the first, but this time will not host so many contestants.
Confirmed to attend so far are the obvious, Hank Chien, Steve Weibe, and Billy Mitchell.

This Saturday, 8pm mountain time, A Special Edition of Arcade Culture will be broadcast from the 1-Up.
We plan to do a walk thru tour as well as interview the establishments owner "Jourdan" as well as invite the next four hand picked contestants via the telephone.
It should make for a fantastic episode. I have other fun stuff, like Joel West's gift photo album and other great gaming announcements.
Before anyone starts speculating, Twin Galaxies' Pete Bouvier personally requested an invite to adjudicate such an epic event. So yes, Twin Galaxies will be on hand and we are currently seeking sponsors.
I have already been contacted by multiple TV stations as well as Canadian Press wanting the scoop.

As always keep checking www.twitch.tv/richieknucklez and soon
www.thekongoff.com for updated info*

Cool!

What about marquees this year?

Hell yeah, that was a huge success thanks to Rich from TOG's exceptional quality.

We are designing a slightly new style, not just plugging in a "II"
Ideas include Kong straddling the Colorado Rocky Mountains, as well as other clever designs.

We will offer a reduced pre-order price just like last time and then sell at a premium at the event.

This event will be at a bar so as soon as the official beer sponsor is announced, maybe even a beer themed marquee will be allowed.

The possibilities are endless

Will these be limited like the last one? How many are you making for the event? Love to have it next to this one :)

Alright Richie I will most likely be flying to Colorado Brother :) If everything works out I may still want to add this to part of the film.
oh and i am gonna want that marquee :)

I would also like to pre-pre-order a marquee. I didnt get one last time, and was super bummed.

I will be there. I'm in for the pre-order too. I'm very excited this is coming to Denver where I can actually attend it. FRAKKING AWESOME!!!

It was pretty cool how this all came about. Billy and I have been close pals ever since we met on The Today Show about five years ago.
When Billy and I forged the idea of The Kong Off 1, I cold called Steve Weibe (we had never met) and convinced him to travel to NJ to participate. He must of felt like he was walking into the Lion's Den. The instant we met, He and his homeboy Andrew Laidlaw and I just clicked. Now this time around, it is Steve who got the ball rolling, and convinced me that I could pull this off once again.
Billy is consumed with his son and his budding football career, and getting him to commit to a date has been hell. but just an hour ago Billy admitted to traveling to a friend's arcade to practice some Donkey Kong, he said he did it for me. So it looks as though this party has the makings of legend.

Anyways, next Friday, my wife and I will be partying during the day at Golden Colorado and at night at The 1-UP in Denver. Tons of beer, arcade games, and meeting new friends.

Sometimes being an "arcade personallity" has its perks! (Winks at Z3K3)
