After speaking with Steve Weibe, Bill Mitchell, and Hank Chien it looks as though the Kong Off 2 is a go.

Steve will be calling into our web-show this Saturday night at around 10:30 pm EST, and we will be making the official announcement with our new location partner.

The Pac-Off is still gonna happen but it may be pushed back a bit due to new implications. "wink..wink"

This event is "the deuce you do not want to drop"

Sounds cool Richie are you having these made again for the event and selling them like last year?

Hells yes, but a slightly different design.
Andrew Laidlaw (Galaga champ and Steve Weibe's bff) will be designing all of the promo merch for the event.

This time around I am out sourcing most of the work, not to India, but def not trying to diy myself to death like last time

Billy Mitchell mastered Kong when it was originally out, when he was just a kid, and along with a plethora of other arcade games. Wiebe is a one game "wonder" and johnny-come-lately who hasn't done anything of note in his life. Without the doc, Weibe would be another nobody, whereas Billy Mitchell was, is, and always will be a gaming legend.

Sign me up for 1 of these......

Doesnt weibe have a record in jr and popeye?

Wiebe at one time held both the Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior records at the same time. He holds neither now.

Wiebe expressed interest in Popeye but has never submitted a score. Don't know what his personal best is. The Popeye record was held by Steve Harris from 1983 until 2010, when Perry Rodgers took over the top spot:

Code:
1 1,238,110 Perry Rodgers Jun 11 2010 Video
2 1,232,250 Steve Harris Aug 08 1983 Referee
Word is that Ben Falls recently hit 1.4 million but that hasn't been verified yet.

Bill Mitchell is a talented gamer but his gift for self promotion and hype has contributed to his "legend" status as much as anything. There are several arcade gamers, many of them active today, who are way better than Bill on way more titles, Martin Bedard and Donald Hayes for starters. I'm not slamming Bill at all. Just saying KidVidiot's post was extreme in both directions.

Although I do appreciate the post bump,

Let's not derail with a Babe Ruth Vs. A-Rod debate.

Funny you chose Bedard, I heard that he beat my Pleiades WR up at Funspot a few days ago.
I wonder what inspired him to start playing?

I started playing DK again, (my pb is just shy of 800k) so I have a year of practice to break 1 million.
If I do I will consider letting myself enter the competition. :)

Yes THIS...... there are plenty other threads to comment on the "Joanie Loves Chachi" Debate!

Glad there is going to be a 2nd go around though!!

Not to thread jack (ok, well maybe just a bit) but would love to see a "Robotron-off". I have been talking with other members of the "10 million point club" and there is certainly a good deal of interest. Any chance of ever getting something like this set up?

10 million is a great score. I have played thousands of games of Robotron and never gotten anywhere near that.

My wife and I had a blast at the last Kong Off. We will be there for sure. Check my YouTube link below for My video from the last Kong Off! It's a good time!
