The KLOV Arcade Mixtape!

And this classic from the 70's. Anyone here remember this? LOL

This song always makes me think about two things:

1) My parents had a boat in the early-mid 90's. It had a tape deck, but my dad only had a handful of tapes. Tommy James & The Shondells was one of them, so this song always makes me think about summer time and being out on the lake.
2) "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead"

RIP Mr. Burke. Definitely had a big influence in the New Wave scene and everything adjacent.

Blondie was big in late 70's early 80's and was active in many genres, mainly famous for disco and new wave. But Blondie was one of the first groups to bring rap to mainstream audiences. "Rapture" was first rap video on MTV and I think the first rap song to hit #1 on the charts. Very weird. And not very good. But still very influential.

Love the groove and the real, live, original drummer performance. Thanks for the beats Clem!

"Count On Us" by The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. From the album Coming Out Of Our Shells

This song has absolutely no business being as good as it is.

And yes, it's on Apple Music too!

Here's some vintage hip-hop selections, the Joeski Love song might not be available via apple/spotify unfortunately...

Tom Tom Club - Wordy Rappinghood [1981] - very blondie-rappish-like

Joeski Love - Pee-Wee's Dance [1986]

Newcleus - Jam On Revenge (the wikki-wikki song) [1983]

LL Cool J - I Can't Live Without My Radio [1985]

Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal (Annie Mix) [1988]

I couldn't find the Smooth Criminal remix, but the album version is already on the list.
