I'll go with Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMR5zf1J1Hs

I'm much more into rock (like x100000000) than I was when I was a kid but this whole album just screams 80's into my head, which in turn reminds me of the campgrounds I played games at as a kid even though it was quite a while after the 80's obviously. I don't automatically think of that when I listen to it but it can make me think of it sometimes. I would assume I heard this as a kid as well even if I wasn't looking for it.

Great song, too! :D

Also: I'm a big 80's buff now in all corners (maybe besides clothing, but I'm sure there's links there too) and I've always had this weird deja vu feeling for that time period, that's a big part of my life and although I don't actively think about it too much anymore nor base my choices or anything around it or "look for it", it's definitely there, even though I don't think that's why I ended up liking the music and stuff. Can't explain it. I think I was just exposed to all of those campgrounds with arcade games in them, etc., when I was very little, long enough ago to not remember most of them at all enough but still somewhat and it messes me with once in a while.

Also 2: You spelled my username wrong ;)

I'll go with "Only Solutions" by Journey, not just because it played in the original Tron's arcade scene, but because It was played often in the arcade I visited in the early 80s in Paso Robles, CA (Can't for the life of me remember the name of the arcade)
I can remember hearing this song the first time I walked in with my brother and sister, ready to kill time and play some games.
It was blaring and the sounds of classic games mixed with it, and for that reason it still gives me the arcade feel.
Whenever I hear it I can almost hear the Pole Position starting lights, the click clack of air hockey and the wakka wakka of Pacman.

The Breakup Song - Greg Kihn Band.

No specific memory, but it just oozes 1982. Close your eyes, picture a '71 Nova with Earl Sheib paint and mag wheels in front of a 7-11 with 5 games near the door. What's playing on the radio? Uh uh ow uh uh ow ow owwww.

What ONE song sums up the arcade experience for you?

You're welcome. :)

For real? No f-f-foolin'?

Alright. It's officially on the list.

Anyone want to go ahead and suggest Rick Astley, and completely corner the troll angle while it's still fresh?

I'm off to bed now, turds. The list will be updated tomorrow, and the official playlist will follow in the next day or two. I'd like to have a good 20-30 tracks ready to go before I officially get it going.

This should be fun if we can get some good participation.

I'm an Apple Music user/artist, and I thought it would be cool to put together a playlist of KLOV members' arcade favorites (and I'll post/update the link in this post as it grows).

Here's the only rule: ONE song. Give me ONE song that personifies the arcade experience/scene for YOU, and WHY. It can be lyrically, musically, or something you can't fully articulate. Something that fits the vibe - FOR YOU. If someone has already picked your song, you have to pick another one. No doubles.

I'll add it to the playlist, and fellow Apple Music users can add it and enjoy the playlist as it grows/evolves.

And one small amendment to the one rule: as the creator, I can add anything I want. I get as many songs as my little heart desires... though in the spirit of things, I'll start with one:

1. 30FathomDave - "Don't Stop The Rock" by Freestyle

Why?
Great Skate, a local roller rink that I frequented as a kid in the 80's (and is still in operation) used to play this song all the time. Lots of memories of skating/dropping tokens in games over this tune.

1. 30FathomDave - "Don't Stop the Rock" by Freestyle
2. OtakusArcade - "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne
3. VectorCollector - "Tom Sawyer" by Rush
4. LordKahless214 - "Only Solutions" by Journey
5. SeanMcL - "The Break Up Song" - Greg Kihn Band
6. IdahoFarmer - "What Does the Fox Say?" By Ylvis

Put me down for this one .
The local rollerskating rink had the most arcade machines, but they also had a breakdancing area and on certain days me and my boys from the projects use to showcase for the rollerskaters.

Sky's rendition of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, which was the version that was ultimately remixed for use in Gyruss.

Almost always heard this blasting out of Gyruss when I walked into the arcade I went to at the time. The game had its volume cranked up for pretty obvious reasons, and kinda makes me wonder if it didn't have an influence on later bands like Apocalyptica.
