Simple thread.
Tell
KLOV about The History Of
Your Game. (as you know it)
-----------------------------------
The History Of MY
Joust.
Back in the day when Clay Cowgil was (is?) the man, the
Williams Multigame was all the rage.
Play
SIX classic games on your ORIGINAL WILLAIMS BOARDSET in your ORIGINAL Williams cab. I had to have one.
Joust
Robotron
Defender
Stargate
Bubbles
Splat! (nobody plays
Splat!)
First things first, I sourced an original Clay Cowgil WILLIAMS MULTIGAME kit from the ORIGINAL MULTIGAME SITE
multigame.com.
(Thanks again Clay!) (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE CURRENT MULTI WILLIAMS KITS)
Next, I found a Defender cab locally which would need some mods to it because Joust was the best cab to use for the Cowgil Williams Multigame.
Low and behold, when I got there, in the dingy little backroom storage unit of a small strip mall, next to the Defender was a Joust (among other cabs). I asked the seller if it was for sale and yes it was, for the same price as the Defender. So it was mine! Turns out, I would later discover it was none other than Mike Haaland of
mikesarcade.com who sold it to me.
(Thanks again Mike!)
Next I found
phoenixarcade.com and Darin Jacobs and purchased the metal control panel and overlay for the original Cowgil Williams Multigame.
(Thanks again Darin!)
Once I got the Cowgil kit and the phoenixarcade control panel and overlay, I took them to Mike and had him install the multikit properly.
So after all of this I finally had my Joust Williams Multigame (which I still have). Played great and looked great.
But there was one thing missing... The Joust Master.
I picked up the Joust Master, AKA Lonnie McDonald, from
joustmaster.com, at the airport and drove him to my house to put the high score (9,999,999) on my Joust cab while I filmed the highlights.
(Thanks again Lonnie!)
KLOV Honorable mentions: Several members of KLOV made the control panel harness and sourced the buttons and other parts to complete my Joust Williams Multigame cab.
(Thanks again KLOV Members!) (of course it's been so long ago I remeber their names but I bet they do...)
So The History Of My Joust is:
Clay Cowgil
Mike Haaland
Darin Jabobs
Lonnie McDonald
KLOV Members
(Thanks again Everybody!)
Side note: I've had this game for over 25 years and it ain't going nowhere. I've discovered the BEST way to play Joust with a friend (enemy?) is with a beer and a Best Of 7 Games Kill Each Other Fastest Contest for $5. Points don't count, just kill the other player. Best of 7 games wins the money and the loser buys the next round of beer.
