The games in the garcade are scared.. Santa dropped off a Wii.

I could hear the games talking last night out in the garcade- it's like the Land of Misfit Toys out there. Robotron said he was going to hang himself with his own cord, was mumbling something about not being able to go through this a second time in his life.

I feel like hanging the garcade flag at half mast today. :(

Nothing to be scared about. The Wii is a BLAST... for a couple weeks... then it will sit. Like mine does. $500 worth of Wii shit that has more dust on it than the tops of my cabs.

No worries man, we have a Wii, Dreamcast, PS2 (2), Gamecube (2) and a Xbox 360 S (after replacing the POS "arcade" one I had before) and the actual arcade games still get WAY more love. I even got Forza 4 for the Xbox yesterday, and while it is a really cool game, my Rush the Rocks are the better experience, IMO. That said, I will be getting a wheel/pedals for the Xbox, and then I will go on Xbox Live and kick some azz; that will be fun too. :)

If a 4-player console can occupy your entire party, leaving your machines high and dry... you didn't invite enough people.

At my Christmas party a week ago, all the kids were upstairs playing the Wii (Smash Bros, etc.) and the adults were in the basement playing the arcade games. So, yeah.... It can happen. :)

Thanks I appreciate that. My only real concern tho is up until now my daughter has been my number 1 fan of the garcade aside from me. When she found out she got the Wii, I got that feeling like a Mom when her son goes off to college. :(

I think your Intellivision experience says it all; my parents purchased a ColecoVision when I was growing up, and while the console got a *lot* of use, it in no way made a dent in my arcade loyalty.

Today my family has a Wii as well, but my daughters still ask to play titles from my classic console collection as well as the few arcade cabs I have. So just reassure Robotron that he * can* do it again! :D

LOL, that's exactly what I was going to say. The Wii and Xbox 360 are both the dustiest things I own. They are fun for a very short time then the remotes sit and go dead, one day you decide to play it and when you find you cant turn it on the controller goes back on the table. I don't even have enough motivation to throw new batteries in.

Too bad Santa didn't bring an XBox... Kinect for the kid and Pinball FX2 for you! ;)

Don't worry. They stopped making games for the Wii years ago (I'm a Nintendo guy and my only "current" system is a Wii). Yeah, I'm a bit bitter about how Nintendo has abandoned the system for the most part. I'd still like to get the new Zelda, though.

This could not be more true...it's a novelty. When that wears off, which is sooner than later, it makes for a nice boat anchor.

Well, since you already have the hardware - if you have a computer running MAME or even a MAME cabinet, download Dolphin and set up your WiiMotes as light guns. At least then you can add a few shooters (Area 51 or Duck Hunt) to the mix.

Our Wii was a Netflix box for a year before I ended up trading it in at Gamestop for PS3 swag. The kids summarily ignored it completely with the exception od watching Anime and Spongebob.
