Hi all,
After 6 or so years on this fun, life sucking website, I've finally figured out how to post pix, heh. Yes that means I'm a doofus. Anyways here is the Fonz arcade cab I picked up from my friend Keith Mitchell last year. It was the main attraction at Keith's parties and I know the game had special meaning to him, so I am honored he sold it to me. Its a pretty rare cab, especially in the condition its in and fully working + its signed by the Fonz himself and Keith went to great lengths to have it done...The other Fonz cabs I've seen on ebay have been pretty beat. It's a BW game made by Sega in 1976, one of their first. Sound is handled by an 8 track tape and currently it plays Waylon Jennings. The original game tape has been removed and stored for safety. There is a timer and the game is played for score. The handlebar has a throttle that makes the Fonz ride higher on the screen. The higher the Fonz is on screen, the faster your points accumulate. There are riders to avoid while trying to stay on the road which twists and turns. If you hit anything, there is a solenoid that violently slams the handlebars and your score stalls. There is a timer extend to hit to increase your score. Unfortunately the score maxes out at 1999 with time remaining, which is a killer for score competition. However, my good friend Xray2 is working on a score modification. He's already made it so the score rolls over when 1999 is hit and starts over. The current record holder is Stuffmonger with 236 after flipping past 1999. We have a bunch of mod ideas to implement and hopefully we may have it ready in time for this years CAX :)

In the meantime, please enjoy pix of when I first received the game, sorry for the dust :)
Tom

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttt!

Love Henry Winkler...and The Fonz still is the MOST cool of ALL characters!!

Love the machine! What a historical gem!

Great job keeping and restoring a piece of American History!

Thanks for sharing it!

Jess

Sweet! That's a keeper & has been a very desirable machine since the early days of arcade collecting.

Is it fun?

I had no idea. That is really, really cool. Wow. I wonder how many of those they made...? (Off to check KLOV)

Thanks! I view it kind of like Warlords, ICB or Zeke's Peak. Mebbe not the best solo experience, but it's a great party game, especially when playing against someone for score. Prior to Xray2's score mod, it was pointless as the score would max out at 1999 and stop...but you still were driving for another 5-15 seconds. Now the score flips at 1999 and continues until the time runs out. It's pretty intense keeping Fonz at the top of the screen to max your score avoiding collisions and when you hit the Solenoid hits hard. Much harder than Qbert. The goal is to have this ready by CAX so people can try and hopefully enjoy it.

Cool, I just got my picture taken with him at a custom car show. I think he's been on the car show circuit all over the country for years now.

Very cool looking game hope to play it at CAX this year did you do anything to protect the autograph on your marquee? I hope to meet Steve Perry someday and have him sign my marquee on my Journey game.

i remember playing that game in my driveway a few years ago at the klov party i hosted. keith backed his truck in the driveway with the game in the bed and we all played it. great game.

Oddly enough... there is one on eBay at the moment. Saw it earlier today.. and was the first time I had ever heard of this game:

$2,200 non-working. People are truly clueless.

Yes, this is that very game :) now that ya mention it, that's exactly where I first played it, In your driveway, right on the bed of his truck! Hopefully once its fully modded (reversible) and recapped, we'll have fun times at CAX and at SoCal get-togethers with this.

No, nothing yet. It was done with a paint marker of some type. I'm glad Henry Winkler has nice penmanship, heh.

rocks seeing people enjoying obscure stuff!

lol, yes I remember feeling kinda embarassed climbing up onto Keith's truckbed to take a turn. When I first crashed and the solenoid slammed the handlebars I nearly jumped off! Fun times!

Tom
