The Fluke 9010a Club

Hey guys, I'm back but in the "I have to sell all my arcade shit" kind of way :(
Pulled out the 9010a and 6502 pod. The 9010a is clean inside but power button is sticky and display doesnt light up. It fully worked a few years ago when I tested it. Unit makes a few beeps now.

The 6502 pod was tested 6-7 years ago and never used. Put it right back in the bubble wrap and box.

Ill never use this stuff. Worth fixing or would someone like to make me an offer? (Sold to someone. Thanks)

Has the tape drive and the serial port. Never was able to test the tape drive.

Thanks

Maybe this has been posted before. I noticed it while taking apart a 9100 keyboard.

Fluke channeling Apple ("Macintosh team").

Can anyone that owns a Fluke 9100Y-xx DIP Clip Adapter post some pics of the housing internals?

I am referring to the DIP Clip adapters that connect to a Fluke 9100 I/O or Vector Module.

Interested in pics of inside the I/O module connector and pcb. Any size under 20 pins and a 24 pin one and any other would be greatly appreciated.
Prices are unrealistic for these at the moment, like everything else these days (and even more so to ship them to Australia).

I am hoping I can fabricate a low-cost replacement. I have checked on the connectors, found a current source for the connectors but they are also suitably overpriced. I have confirmed the headers are 2 rows of 0.1" (round pins of appropriate length) with a 0.05" offset and some mounting pins to locate the adapter. Case should be able to be done as a 3D print even if it is a little rough compared to original molded ones.

PCB termination of ribbon lead needs to be confirmed and if there are any other passives used (other than the test button). Manual contains the pin wiring info needed.

Let me dig thru my stash, i don't think i ever bought any of the actual vector module adapters, as never felt there was a use if i had the flying lead adapter..

A pic inside the flying lead adapter of pcb and cable connections would be helpful.

Edit: have a calibration module that I can use for pcb, connector and case dimensions if the inside of a DIP and/or flying lead module look to be similar.

Don't think I need to be concerned about having my fluke 9010A say "VER 2A" on the display,
seems to work fine for me, bus test OK., rom reads of signatures are spot on, & memory tests excellent!

OK!
I hooked up the ROM PCB I was working on and using the above procedure, ROM7 failed - CHKSUM came back DC00.
Checked ROM7 pin 20 and it did not pulse when my Fluke was attempting to read it.
That enable line originates from IC16-11 (7432)
IC16-13 pulsed when attempting to read ROM7 but IC16-12 did not.
IC16-12 signal originates from IC13-4 (7442) which tested good with my HP logic comparator (?!)
I replaced the 7442 (IC13) anyway and happy to say GOT GAME!
I never would have figured this out without you guys help - THANK YOU!
Jeff

I just had to check out a Joust green rom board. Slightly different process:

0xD000-0xDFFF40963006-22.10bCRC(3f1c4f89) (Fluke: 4CAA)
0xE000-0xEFFF40963006-23.11bCRC(ea48b359) (Fluke: E5D6)
0xF000-0xFFFF40963006-24.12bCRC(c710717b) (Fluke: 9996)
0x10000-0x10FFF40963006-13.1bCRC(fe41b2af) (Fluke: 3754)
0x11000-0x11FFF40963006-14.2bCRC(501c143c) (Fluke: 12DC)
0x12000-0x12FFF40963006-15.3bCRC(43f7161d) (Fluke: 9461)
0x13000-0x13FFF40963006-16.4bCRC(db5571b6) (Fluke: 9004)
0x14000-0x14FFF40963006-17.5bCRC(c686bb6b) (Fluke: 55E6)
0x15000-0x15FFF40963006-18.6bCRC(fac5f2cf) (Fluke: 0559)
0x16000-0x16FFF40963006-19.7bCRC(81418240) (Fluke: 076F)
0x17000-0x17FFF40963006-20.8bCRC(ba5359ba) (Fluke: FDE9)
0x18000-0x18FFF40963006-21.9bCRC(39643147) (Fluke: C5C5)

The first three are checked as-is as D000-FFFF is always mapped as ROM.

0000-8FFF is bank switched between ROM and Video RAM.

Per https://seanriddle.com/willhard.html 0xC900 bit 0 <= 0 switches in VRAM and <=1 switches in ROM.

So after bank switching in the ROM the last 9 are checked as start=(address - 0x10000) to start+0FFF

If anyone has any old 9010A Mainframe ROM's I am looking for dumps of versions 1A and 2A.

In total there were versions 1A, 2A, 2B, 2C and finally 3A.

I think 1A used *6 and 2A used 6, ROMs or EPROMs.

I am also documenting the revision history from some recent manuals and change notes I purchased. Will publish something when I get through it all.

* Edited.
I might have v1 but the ROM dumps appear corrupted, so still need a clean ver 1A set. I do not have ver 2A.

For reference here is the current draft of the revision info I have been collating. The page format is A3 Landscape.

This document includes PCB part numbers and revision information for the 9005A, 9010A, 9020A and Pods. It does not yet include the 9100A/FT or 9132A/FT Pods.

The information in this table is collated from the hard copy manuals I currently have as a first pass then missing info and checking against pdf downloads.

This draft is just a start, there is a lot of work needed to make the change information and revisions complete and accurate. I will review the details with any PCB images I have and against the physical units and pods I have.

If you have any Fluke 90xxA PCB's not shown in the list, revisions not listed or change notes not mentioned, please let me know. Errata information is not included, in these Fluke documents they only refer to changes/corrections in the manuals not any hardware. I have a document list I am also drafting that includes all the Fluke manuals, change notices, bulletins, etc.

If we can get enough help, this will allow us to determine what mods need to be done to any pcb's to bring them up to the latest versions.

Here is a draft list of the documents I currently have or have found pdf's of online. It still needs work and there are several missing.
If you have any Fluke Troubleshooter document(s) that are different revisions or not listed, please post or PM me. It would be great to fill this out with all the documents they published and hopefully also get them all online for people to access.
