I played anything and everything that took a quarter back in the 80s.

Every machine was a wondrous, over-sized cabinet of excitement.

Until this piece of sh1t showed up at my pizza joint...

To those of you who know this rotten game, I understand your pain.
If not SPECIAL FORCES, what game broke down the fantasy and
brought you into the harsh reality that some people just wanted to
make a buck and could care less how fun a game is?

Gauntlet - I couldn't stand the fact that I put in a quarter and my life went down even if I did nothing! Of course, looking back, I probably got more time for my quarter than some other games.

Missile Command.. its extremely frustrating!

But I must play it anyway. Who else will save our country 1 quarter per missle basically:)

I plan on picking one up. I hope someone made a freeplay option for it.

bagman, great cabinet, cool music, WTF do you have to do to win this game????

LOL.

While I do not play Missile Command, Defender or Pac-Man particularly well, I don't think I can cite them as being hated by me since I appreciate their place in gaming history.

That being said...I'll go with Hunchback.

Yags said first coin-op that you hated. I too, respect Pac-Man for its place in history but I was disappointed as hell when I went into the local Pizza Hut BITD and the only game that they had was a Pac-Man (it was Ms. Pac now that I think of it) cocktail. I didn't even ask for a few bucks from my parents.

Punch-Out!!

When it first came out, it was 50 cents to play in my arcade. And, after 50 cents went down the drain, you got a zoom-in of the fighters taunting you for losing. Pissed me off more than the Duck Hunt dog ever did.

Once I'd learned the patterns and got quicker with the buttons, I loved the game. This weekend at Disneyland's California Adventure, I played it in Flynn's Arcade. People were getting their asses kicked by Glass Joe after telling friends how good they were at it (too bad for them they meant Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!) :D . I hogged the thing and ended up with 214,000, which isn't too good for me `cause I've been able to get 630,000 or so in the past.

The machine there was in great shape. Kudos to that exhibit.

OK, I know its a great game and all but Dragon's Lair was my first real HATE game ever. I felt like I had to save up money all week long to play that overpriced piece of crap.... and within 10 minutes I was broke.

Funny thing is....its also on my wish list. (I need to win)

Check it out - we're already on page 2, and no one's mentioned Pit Fighter or Arkanoid yet.

That's because we're old enough that by the time PF and Ark was out, we'd already hated something. And I like Arkanoid...

For me it was Springer. And I don't think I was the only one. It sat unplugged in a restaurant for weeks in my hometown.

I've never heard of that game. But I do think that a Jerry Springer-themed Street Fighter game would make a killing in the arcades...

Pole position, I used to get so pissed of at the fact that your car just blew up whenever you hit something. How unrealistic. Every other indy car game allowed you to just bump things or take damage.
