I always thought it was Computer Space, but apparently Galaxy Game came out 2 months prior, but was never mass-produced. It was the same basic game as Computer Space (they were both essentially the same game as Spacewar):

It remained in operation until '79 (pretty long stint for an arcade machine on location).

I've never heard of it, and it doesn't seem to be listed on KLOV.

I think I read about Galaxy Game awhile ago. Problem is, I believe the game used an actual computer to run on (not discrete circuitry like Computer Space) and as such was way to expensive to mass produce.

EDIT: Just read about this game online. Apparently it was programmed on a PDP-1 computer, which cost about $20k.

Yeah, it used a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP-11/20; and the hardware cost around $20,000 (a very large amount of money in the early '70s, considering new cars were about $3,000-$5,000 at the time).

However, it had a vector monitor and actual joysticks, which trumps Computer Space's B&W TV and pushbuttons-only IMO.

Damn it!! I drove right by the place several times when I was out to CAX this summer. I wanted to go check it out but ran out of time. I would of loved seeing those babies.
