I'm restoring a bunch of Exidy Shooters and part of the challenge is acquiring artwork. Here is one of the art projects i'm working on.
BIG thanks to Kalan for lending me one NOS piece of Combat Side art.
I have gained a new appreciation for what it takes to get this stuff made.
MANY hours were invested to get this side art to this point.
This artwork was originally screen printed, but due to how complex it is, it would take hundreds of hours to redraw and color separate so instead it will be prepped for solvent inkjet.
SCAN: 600 DPI wide format scan (huge 1 GiG Tiff file)
PHOTOSHOP: clean up (fixing wrinkles, scratches, rips, dirt, smudges, original printing flaws, color correction, etc.)
Then flip the graphic horizontally, except the Exidy logo and signature on the bottom to create the other side.
ILLUSTRATOR: Next is to place the giant photoshop file in Illustrator to draw the outside edge, die cut/plotter. This has to be vector lines or the decal wont have a clean edge.
PRINTING: This is the stage i'm at now, next up is to print some samples to dial in the colors. Soon Rich at TOG will have these available.
