I will say and I mean it I will never go to another badgerauctions auction...those guys are assholes cheats and fucking crooks through and through.
Andy, I take it you're still a little bitter about the Fun World auction, huh? :p

I can't say I'm surprised about Super Auctions. The last ones around Milwaukee have been bad, and hearing all the stories after the auctions; it seems like this was coming. I had fun at them though, mostly for just meeting people and maybe finding a deal (ok, more so a project). Hopefully something else comes in to fill the spot.

They haven't been to Michigan in a few years. The last one in Detroit was a complete waste as there was not much there. I think it's too bad because I did get some good deals from there. :(

yeah I did like the non-working row they did at the end . I picked up a DK Jr for $50 . Usually it would be me and like two other guys and they'd just want that stuff out of there .

Auctioneering is a shady business from the get-go.

Going to an auction NOT expecting doughebaggery is like going in to a Pawn Shop expecting to get decent dough for your gold jewelry.

It just ain't gunna happen.

If you go in knowing what to expect, it can even be sort of fun. I know it isn't for everyone, but I enjoy the game, and always follow the simple rule, Don't bid more than you want to pay. (Although it seems like the biggest douchebaggery happens in the pin auctions, of which I usually steer clear, So I may not be the best judge)
Plus it's always nice to see fellow KLOVers there.
I know I for one will miss it if they don't come back, or if this new company doesn't make it up here.

We should just start having them at my place, cash only with no fees. Maybe someone drag out a margarita machine and fire up the grill.......:001_sbiggrin:

SA and BadgerAuctions

I gotta ask... I ended up missing the FunWorld auction in Brookfield. What happened?

that fun world auction was a joke. badger auctions DEF is worse the SA. I will never deal with those guys again. but I really have to say I will miss SA, as much as the pissed me off and were jerks it was still a fun day

Did you end up buying anything there? Wondering if we ran into each other there.

That "Times the Money" shit was recockulus, real nice how they tell you that after the bidding began. Lotta shady shit with those assholes.

I will be bitter everyday looking at my $100.00 worth of floor mats. Times the money my ass.

On a bright note I have found a Cab for the Play Choice

This has obviously been a LONG time coming. I can remember going to more than one auction where they joked about never coming back because the prices that equipment was bringing was too low. You have to go to auctions with LOW expectations to keep you from being really disappointed.

The last one that i went to was the most "successful" for me personally, but i also spent more money at that particular auction than any other. It's just a mixed bag, really. The one thing that ALWAYS pissed me off was how they would auction off multiple items (of the same game) together. They give the first winning bidder the right to purchase ALL of the items for the final bid price. If you win the bid, you get to pick your equipment and how many. If you only wanted one, they would tell you that the winning bidder is "going to buy all of them". It seems like you can't win in that scenario. It causes you to over-pay if you want your pick of the games, and if you don't win, then you risk not being able to buy ANY of them.

The economy and the market has definitely taken it's toll, and this is not surprising. I'm sure that someone else will step up. Hopefully they will be more honest than most auction companies seem to be...

The company was in deep water all of last year. BJ who was an employee there told me he was looking for a different job because it was getting real bad and he wanted out before the ship sank.

Was he the owner of this glorious mullet?

I was amazed I was able to capture a photo of one not in captivity.

I think that the mullet belongs to guy by the name of David. I might be wrong, but I know that he always had equipment for sale at the Dalas auction, and worked there as well.

Nope it is BJ. He is the guy at every auction that gets mad at the "low prices" and always makes sure to announce "It's dedicated".

Sum won dun lernt him dat duh werd dedicated meens deez here peeples will pay mur fer it.

The auctioneers job is to get the most money for the games that sellers bring to sell. Not to help you get the games cheaper. The auctioneer is working for the seller, not the buyer.

When they sell pick of lot, its to encourage people to bid more to get 1st choice. Pretty sure its called a dutch auction. It tends to work at getting top dollar for multiple items. If you choose, not to bid and wait to get a chance, you take the risk of losing.

People complain about phantom bidding or sellers bidding on their own equipment. If they just said all games have a $75 reserve and just passed at each that did not make it, it would make the auction very boring..

The ones up at Mesquite were always a mixed bag. The first one I went to could have been held in Raven's backyard. There was a small row (about 5) of pins, 3 rows of video games, a row of the big games, some pool tables and a dozen cranes/redemption machines. I didn't bother to stay. The best one (from a buyers perspective) was a couple of auctions ago when they brought in the 3 semi trailers full of games from that arcade complex in Oklahoma. The only thing keeping me from buying more was trying to figure out how to get them home. I spent more in shippinig with Noel than I did buying the games. The other good thing about that auction was that most of the games were a liquidation auction which meant that there were no shill bidders and no buy backs because the money was probably all going to some bank. We just had to watch out and not step on each other's toes and bid the stuff up.

The auction that I remember the most was about 3 years ago. There where so many games that the fire marshall wouldn't allow anymore games into the building, so there were 2 to 3 rows or games staged outside the biulding. The auction lasted until 2:00 am. Over the last two years the number of games including classic games decreased in numbers, so it was just a matter of time before superauctions came to an end.

Super Auctions is where I got my very first arcade game - a Pac-Mania in '03

It's also where I met a lot of cool people who are still my friends to this day!

Even when the auctions started to suck, it was fun to catch up w/ my KLOV friends in person every few months.

I know a lot of people are pissed at SA for shitty auctions or screwing them out of money...hell, the last "good" auction they did in So Cal was probably 3 or 4 years ago....but still, for me, it represented something very significant in this hobby.

In So Cal, we now have Captain Chris' Auction Warehouse....I went this Saturday, saw some of the KLOV guys, played some games, went home w/ nothin' .....good times. :)
