The end of Dexter

If anyone bought spares and wants to sell one, I would like to buy one.
Even if you get one, it needs to be for the game you put it in. Matt doesn't support these anymore unless you purchased one from the last batch as he stated in his EOL post unfortunately.

Isn't that just a matter of reprogramming? Support needs to come from somewhere. If Matt's not going to support these further, then those in the community are going to be forced to, including how to make them work for other games.

ScottC.

You can copy the game image but then you get numbers in the top left hand corner of the monitor which is annoying. I'm not sure what's involved with the reprogramming of the Dexter itself but a license file needs to be generated at the very least.

Any Dexter can work with any game. It's just a matter of having the proper laserdisc image installed, and setting the proper MODE setting.

Numbers in the top left of the screen, are displayed when the license key gets messed up.
The key is on the USB drive, and is specific to each Dexter.
The most common reason for Dexter loosing its key is if someone has more than one Dexter and they get the USB drives mixed up between them.
Always keep the correct USB thumb drive with its Dexter.

My guess is that Matt will eventually release a final firmware that will not require the key.
