I understand your reasoning and appreciate what you have done.
I just don't believe that ebay is the most accurate representation of the value of these machines. I understand your point about the sales being documented but I feel your list would benefit from input from collectors as more and more people choose not to use ebay. There is a lot that's incomplete on your list that may never come up for sale on ebay.
Maybe in the future you could consider adding more sales from here.
I appreciate your comments.. I can understand why some think that eBay is not accurate on prices because still to this day eBay does not disclose to us the accepted made offers on site. For these auctions I have to use a special site that will unveil the true price of the auction. At least some skepticism has come from that notion. As far as straight line auctions and BIN's those are what they are and what ever price is the outcome is enough for me to record it because there is nothing inaccurate about the final price unless of course the sales doesn't stick.
Another thing I do to make sure prices are sticking is I filter out the false sales, canceled sales or those auctions where dead beat bidders do no complete the transactions with sellers and find there way back to eBay. Those games that come back to eBay under those circumstances are price corrected in my guide so that it reverts back to the last prior sale.
If the question of price inaccuracy is more about the conditions of the game itself I simply just record my personal opinion to document to the best of my ability as a collector to inform those bidding of the conditions as I see it in the sellers description and pics. Then people can make there own judgment on whether the price was accurate or fair.
I also believe that shipping prices should never be apart of the overall games value or selling price because its basically an extra expense. There is no way of knowing who will pay for shipping and those who pick up a game and save on the shipping. So that is omitted from pricing. I believe that is why eBay doesn't include the shipping at the end final price as well.
I will admit my site is a little unorthodox compared to a paperback price guide because its not based totally on condition but rather on quantity and the amount of games that are selling. That is what im more interested in.. Who pays the most, who pays the least, what is the average price on that game title and what game titles are selling. The prices in a paperback guide or other online sources are stagnant by the time you read them where as my price guide is always live and the prices fluctuate daily as games sell.
There is really no place else I can gather the amount of games compared to games that sell on eBay. There is no shortage of games from what I record daily. Roughly 160 EM pin auctions running daily and another 125 EM auctions so far logged and tracked this year. By the end of 2018 that auction presentation should be well over 500. Some games sell, and many don't. The prices are determined by supply and demand and those willing to buy. Last year eBay sellers sold roughly 451,306.28 dollars of EM games which works out to be 550 EM game units total. That is all EM game genres combined.
The auctions coming to eBay are from everyone... collectors, private sellers, retailers, antique sellers and yes even KLOVer's. So the prices should be well rounded. Yes, my list maybe incomplete but iam very patient : ) Sooner or later they all come to eBay.
I would consider more prices that come from KLOVer's but until someone comes along and can tell me how to document true sales between two individuals here then I could possibly do that. My main problem with this idea is not all KLOVer's are who they say they are and before too long I end up talking to the same guy with a different account here and finds it funny to fuck with others. Some people here get very offended by prices and im sure there will always be someone that would still be skeptical of the idea. I try to do what I do in the easiest manner and give them the best prospective on gaming prices as I can. At least that's what I hope my guide can do. Thanks again for your comments.
