So I just picked this up today. It's a blue upright, no art, converted to poker game.

I'm on my way back to St. Louis now, will grab more photos of the guts tonight. It has some of the power section with a switching power supply wired in.

Just pulled the bezel and it's just tinted plexi which someone spray painted a black border around. I held it up to some light and there's nothing underneath the paint. Bummer.

Hi guys I must have read this thread a dozen times or more in the last few months... Pretty excited to add an update

I picked up a Space Demon Upright in an operator clearout a few months ago here in Brisbane, Australia. When I picked it up, the cabinet was pretty trashed internally, not too great externally either. The original monitor and chassis were sadly long gone, and the wiring had been modified heavily and when i picked it up. It was fitted with a galaga bootleg which i think i stored somewhere, and no original PCB to be seen which is kinda sad.

It's gone through a bit of a cleanup the last few months, although i don't have a lot of spare money to work on it right now so I am just trying to do what i can to slowly bring it back to working condition.
Here is the cabinet in storage on pickup.

You can see the Marquee i'd taken off that HeliFire cab next to it which had a Space Demon Marquee and Bezel fitted for some weird reason. Guessing the operator had Tazzmania fitted in the cab judging by the marquee left on it.

This is the cab in my garage once I got it home

As picked up in it's rusted, yellowed and non-functional glory :giggle:

Something super, super, super cool is the coin decal marked as 20c here for our market (pictured next to a pack of your repro coin decals Mike :giggle:)

I expect you're wondering why 20c? Think of our 20c as the same as you would your quarter in the states.

This SDM-UP is a factory 240v 50Hz variant which is what supply we run here.
Serial 346. The 6510 lock was still fitted and opened easily with my 6510 keys which was awesome

Fast forward a couple of months, this was the cab in a half-state of tidy up after i got the marquee light going again, did a little repairs with some wood glue here and there, removed 20+ years of grime and whatever else i don't want to even know about. Someone wired that light fitting with 240v directly - I added in a new 100v lead, Tube and Starter, somehow the 100v ballast still survived and worked perfect!! amazing

I'd attach more pics but i am only allowed the max of 10 per post :(

Let me know if you would like me to put up a video, i'd be happy to do a walkaround and post a YouTube link or something.
I now have to begin the process of looking for a Space Demon PCB for this one to return it to original which is gonna be a miracle if I find one.

Do it man! I bet you'll be able to locate a PCB for it for sure. Are there that many differences between a Firebird soundboard and a Demon soundboard? I know Demon plays music in the background, but that's all I know.

ah i wish i knew... i am at the beginning of my journey there. I have a Space Firebird PCB for a Nintendo Upright somehow, but do not have a clue the difference with the Fortrek ESS board :(

I do know the sound board is different, but not by much. I wish the differences were documented because I repro'd Space Firebird's soundboard and wouldn't mind doing space demon's

I have a Fortrek Space Demon PCB set now thanks to a very nice offer to sell me one, and if you need any details please get in touch!
I will try to post an update on the project shortly.

Very nice, glad you were able to source a boardset.

If you could take high res photos of the front and back of the soundboard that would be incredible.

I'm still trying to find a sound board myself. My project is on hold until I can find one along with a joystick and one last button.
I'd love to get one in my posession so I can repro it. I have a repro for Space Firebird's sound board but not Space Demon's
