The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

Another addition. Hypersports in a mostly clean cab. Needs paint and a front corner ding taking care of. Screen has some graphics garble in the scoreboard which I suspect is NVRam needing a clear. Came with the side art. Needs a cardboard bezel.
Good addition! Add a T&F board as well. There's also this:

I spent the weekend with the wifey building a 6x10 tin storage shed on the side of the house next to my workshop and garage. That allowed us to move two large shelving units out of the garage with all of our camping gear, my wife's gardening supplies and car related stuff.

That has cleared about 105" of wall space which will allow me to move four machines out of the middle of the room. I'll do the same on the other side which will open the center area up so it will look way less crowded in there.

Before I do move any machines I need to install the wall brackets for the drop ceiling and put in some more foam floor mat on the exposed area.

Picked up a new arcade rug from a local guy who turned out to be a collector. Sold me this for $100. 16.5ft by 6ft. Should make a nice run down one side of the garage.

Working on the space and slots, pretty happy with how airy and open this will feel even with 19 games, casual seating for 8.

I second the "Rearranged" kit. I have it in my cocktail, and it's a blast. The 400m dash that was added in that kit is absolutely brutal.

Jason

This kit is more than worth it, and I agree. The first time me and my oldest son played that event we could barely finish from laughing so hard hahaha.

Remember when I said make sure you finish your room before you bring your games in? Yeah I should listen to myself more.

I've had to basically take everything down and move it away from the walls so I can hang the drop ceiling wall brackets all around the perimeter.

And @jimbodeanny asks it I work out 🏋️‍♀️ pffft. 😀

I ran into some hardware mounting issues with the ceiling anchors. Being an old house the ceiling is plaster rather than drywall so it's too tough for self drilling drywall plugs.
I moved to zinc plugs and they are much better suited to the plaster and bed in plenty strong enough.
It's going to be a bit of a grind doing 440 sq/ft on my own but I will get there. The ceiling is going to look so much better when this is complete

Got the first wall done down the side of the garage. The rug looks great, I taped it to the rubber tiles so it's really nice under foot and have the machines on carpet sliders.

Each cluster of games has a multi strip mounted at 70 inches on the wall, everything is on Wi-Fi smart switches and synced with Home Assistant and Alexa.

Lots still to do but I'm very happy with the way it's all starting to look.

Bubbles cabinet has arrived safe and sound in SoCal. I want to give hug thanks to Andy for working with me to make this happen, the guy had to put in way too much work dealing with the shipping company considering he gave me the cab for free, along with a NOS CPO for my Ikari warriors build. There are some amazing people in this hobby!!

Nice progress so far! Just curious on the Bomb Jack in the plans layout. Do you still have that? I came across one that looked EXACTLY like yours a few weeks ago. Wondering if you've moved on or if you've built a second clone?

That will be it's designated spot, currently I'm still collecting parts for that project. Same for Ikari, Timber and Pooyan, which I have all the parts for, they are just waiting their turn.

Back to the room itself. I want to have a bold theme, the nice thing about projects like this, is you get to play with styles and colors that you probably wouldn't have in an average family home.

Obviously retro is a given with 1980's Arcade games and we already have the arcade carpet, neon and blacklights. But I want the center of the room to have a contrasting 'block' that continues to strike a bold tone, but also has it's own feel. I wanted to take cues from classic Americana, especially diners, black and white checkered floors, red vinyl seats and metal trims.

I've chosen these seats to sit around Warlords which will sit at the end of the central area. They are 22" wide so not too big, also being armless makes them easy to get in and out of.

For the floors, I wanted something inviting, geometric and a contrast to the bright colorful chaos of the arcade carpet. I stuck with black and white, taking color cues from those tiled diner floors. and of course it will mirror the black and white used in the drop ceiling. Two of these will create an 8ft wide strip that runs the full length of the center of the room.

Well, let me know when you run/print the artwork package for the [Bomjack] project. I'm VERY interested. Maybe we can talk offline about it. For now, I'm running Bombjack in my Astro City, but I'd love to create a dedicated cab. It deserves it.

The art should already be available through ToG from that last one I built. I send all of my art to RIch now so he can make it available.
