The Dokert/Chris25810 Busted GO7 Challenge/Donation Contest

Wow thats amazing:eek: I need a few G07's and would like to enter the contest. Unless buying parts somehow disqualifies me:rolleyes:

Rule #1 disqualifies you my friend. You have had a G07 repaired by me and Chris25810.

Buying parts is not a disqualifier.;)

Again Chris amazing job!!

You're disqualified Dan cuz you've bought these from me before but don't sweat it, i have 60+ more in the cabinet and rebuild piles.

You know what I really need:) I need a G07 with the Moon Partol Mods:D but im only looking for shelved chassis :)

Okay here is my entry into the hat:

Here is what I would use it for:
HPIM1234.jpg

The worst tube I've seen since I've been a collector. The Pac/Ms. Pac burn is pretty bad, but look closely. It has been shot three times with either a pellet or BB gun. See if you can find all three. It still has a yoke for a G07 CBO chassis and it's bolted into a vertical 4900 frame. No chassis. If I get it, it would save the poor tube from the trash and would be used as a test monitor, the perfect application for this chassis. Save it from the landfill :) (Don't worry, I'll keep it around until I can find a CBO chassis). As an exchange, I have a fairly well stripped WG4900 chassis without a neckboard. The flyback on it does work (why I have been saving it, I have several 4900's in my games).

And I've been looking for an excuse to share this story: My compaq f700 crapped out last night after I gave it a new motherboard. The common fault with this model laptop is that the solder on the graphics chip seperates from the motherboard. I've had a one in four chance of actually fixing this...not good odds. In the past I removed the motherboard, put tin foil around it for protection and carefully used the heat gun on the graphics chip. Being slightly pissed at the time, I tried another approach. I jury-rigged it to run, and put a heat gun directly on top of the air intake for the laptop. I figure the intake is connected to the heat sink, which is connected to the graphics and CPU chip. Anyhow, I melted a little of the plastic intake, but my laptop sprang back to life. I'm using it to make this post! I have no idea how long it'll last though. Saved from the landfill and my odds improved a little 2/5.

Moon Patrol monitor mod is only applicable to the 4900 IIRC

Pretty sure that the G07 doesn't require it for Moon Patrol

Cool I was thinking about putting thi nice G07 in it,but thought I was going to have do do a mod.

I have a monitor that needs a working g07 chassis, so I'll throw my hat in the ring. I've never had a board repaired by anyone, or bought one from either of you guys either.

Nice work, Chris. Congrats for resurrecting it guys!

pm sent. Now that i have decided this ms pacman that has a piece of crap wg4900 that keeps blowing resistors wont ever work right. This cocktail was given to me by a very dear friend before he left state and for some odd reason it just doesnt like that wg. so i found a free go7 monitor with little burn from a roadblasters that was being tossed out and this chassis would be great to help ms pacman live!

I will throw my name in as well. If I get it I will donate the chassis I replace back to Chris for repair/refurbishment.

Yes, the 3 BB shots are only 'flesh wounds,' the magic smoke is still inside. If I do win, and I can find a horizontal G07 frame, this may look okay in my Pac-Man. I do have some tinted plexi. I like the idea of a test monitor more...it would seem more sane given this chassis. Excellent repair job, BTW. What epoxy is used for the cracked pieces?

Count me in... I have a decently nice G07 tube sitting in the shed... but then again, I think I've dealt with Chris before so it looks like I may be disqualified.

Woke up this morning and yep, it's still running. I don't see a need to burn the life out of this any further so i'm gonna call it ready to go. Who's got the best hard luck story?

I don't have a "hard luck" story per se, but the more I think about it, the perfect use of this for me would be in the dedicated Mr. Do I'm building for my wife at the moment (her favorite game). It's going to be beautiful and the cabinet is minty. The only part I don't have for it currently is the monitor. It uses a frameless monitor, and I've got a g07 yoke sitting on the shelf and several compatible burn free TV tubes waiting to be used. So while I could finish my project without your chassis, it would be a shame to scavenge a complete, framed monitor when I could potentially donate the individual parts to my project and end up with a tube and picture as beautiful as the cabinet it's going in.

I'll also be posting pics and the story of this project when I get it done, so this would further add to what is already an interesting story. :)

I have the perfect cabinet for it. The most accurately dubbed Hobocop. The monitor is a G07 with a bit of a roll and definitely needs some work. Franken-chassis would be right at home...

I'd throw my name in the hat in there if I could. I pulled a G07 out of a centipede cab I picked up on the cheap but the chassis had some oil or someshit on it. I ended up cleaning it off and recapping it and replacing a fuse but after a short session where most of the components got red hot, it no longer does anything. So I have a G07 tube with centipede burn on it and no chassis. I pulled a chassis from my millipede and tested it and the tube works but I need a chassis for it now. It's now sitting in my pole position that came with no monitor.
