Does such a thing even exist?

In 2018 I would assume that we have just about all the knowledge available to faithfully restore a game like Ms Pac man to include accurate paint codes, correct side art specs based on production years, proper hardware measurements, etc.

The KLOV entry is a start but I was wondering if anyone had gone as far as consolidating restoration information to include parts resources, work arounds, etc.

Of course one could spend a large amount of time googling for everything but wouldn't it be better to just go somewhere, get all the info, then actually get to work restoring the game?

Given that I'm starting a Ms Pac resto (maybe resto mod, but we'll see) would be nice ot know if something like this exists before i start creating it myself.

Nope.

Most people use home depot or lowes for paints... But those companies change their systems and the paint codes are then incompatible.

Which is why correct colors are PMS? Matched. Which would be automotive colors. More expensive.

Personally I dislike the original mspac colors.

The pink was more fuschia, and the blue was almost a navy...

I prefer a lighter blue, and more of a pink.

I watched the old video of the Ms Pac assembly line. Was hard to tell if those were the screens/stenciled artwork or the stickered side art.

The colors looked nice in that video (though it was a fairly low quality VHS rip.)

I noticed somewhere that there is differences in the side art.. some I have seen have white details in the ghosts which I believe are earlier production runs.

It would be great to have some list that maybe gives a range of serial/production numbers and the major (or minor) differences between each over the years.

I have 3 mspacs one in the 10k range, 50-60k range and a 100k ish range i forget on that last one... But its way up there may be 90k...

Regardless, for thr most part they seem to have been both.

The main colord may havr been stenciled with the blavk screened on. I would think that would have been the cheapest route.

They were going for quantity, not quality.

The best mspacs are under 50k imho, which had plywood sides, late production run had particle board tops. As did pacman... I think all pacs had particle board tops, but I have only two later production 50k machines.

I hope this helps. This is only what I have observed, and may not be true for all production runs.

I don't think there is one definitive site for this. IMO a Wiki would be a great idea so everyone can contribute.

There are three (technically four) versions of the cabinet art, three stenciled and one vinyl :)

The first version I believe was only used in a few factory prototypes, they were scrapped and used as bottoms for other games. Notice the extra shading and "glow" around the characters (as well as a different monster coloring and pattern)

The first ~1000 Ms. Pacs used the front from the early cabinet with the common release sides.

The vast majority used the common stenciled artwork we all know and love. This is what was recorded in that factory video.

The last few thousand cabinets, produced in 1983 used a particle board cabinet and vinyl decals. This is the one you are probably referring to with the white details.

It's not a release version but there is also the development artwork which I revived last year :)

Wonder how that artwork would look with some pallette adjustments to bring colors more in line with the final but using that artwork.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't part of the original concept art but could be an interesting restomod theme for an adult themed bar/venue.

Apparently this is from a tshirt I found while looking for ms pac related imagery.
