I didn't see myself buying any more vids since going pin crazy ....one of the vids I sold last year was my very first ever: Pac-Mania....the "gateway drug" that turned me into a collector!

So - I see a "Ms. Pac-Man" on CL yesterday that's actually a Pac-Mania. I felt compelled to go check it out. Full side art, perfect monitor, great CPO and marquee...no graffiti, just a few scratches. My old one didn't have side art, so I was really excited about that ....anyway, it's sitting in my car right now. :)

Pics later!

such a tease...

Hey, I needed some time out of the hot sun and wanted to clean it off a little first ...*phew*

The guy I bought it from claims his mom bought it brand new. Now - I'm not sure I'm ready to say this is a HUO game...but it really doesn't show any evidence of arcade abuse. Coin meter reads about 30k plays...but Pac-Mania doesn't have freeplay & the coin meter clicks when you manually add credits by hitting the mech switch.

Great score Greg! I saw that one on CL too, you got it for a good price.

I almost got it for $50 less ....the guy Emailed me this morning to say that the joystick was sticking down a bit, so he'd lower the price. However, turns out his wife wrote that Email and he didn't know, and the guy wouldn't budge. Whatever, I wasn't gonna haggle over it...but I had to run to the ATM.

The joystick problem is easy though, just some sticky microswitches.

the fact that it has side art on both sides is a rarity. It's really not in bad condition. Could be HUO. Of course HUO doesn't mean a game is in mint condition. Some HUO games are beat to shit. Just depends on what home it was in.

Exactly. I'm guessing it's been in their garage for 15+ years getting hit w/ tools, moved around, scraped against stuff, etc....so yeah, it's not perfect. However- I've never seen a Pac-Mania with this side art this good. My old one had NONE. The crack-house Pac-Mania my realtor's boyfriend gave me was scraped up and torn to hell....and the one's I've seen at auctions are missing or torn.

Nice machine!!!!!!I used to play Pacmania quite a bit back then. I like these style of cabs. I believe Dragon Spirit also uses this style. A good indication if it's huo or not is no holes or anything for a cash bar, no?

Alot of the pacmanias only had sideart on one side of the machine from the factory. Mine was like this. I was lucky to get a set of the very limited reproduction art made by thisoldgame earlier this year.

Yes..extremely rare to see the art on both sides....I'm thinking they ran short or had printing issue so they just put the art on one side....because of the 20 plus pacmania's I've seen only two had sideart on both sides and most of the others had no indication that art was on both sides...just the one...
I had Rich work on this earlier in the year and had about 5 sets printed out similar to the Journey sideart..just not as involved as that turned out to be...:D

Mine had no indication of there ever being art on the other side either. Not a trace of adhesive, no fading etc. Its very strange that they would do that.

Yeah, same w/ my old Pac-Mania...I've wondered about that w/ some Nintendo cabs. My Popeye, for instance - the sides are just CLEAN...really doesn't look like side art was ever on it.
