The Biggest Possible Vector Monitor

there are more than that
I'm curious what your high score is? I watched the VAPS video (wasn't sure why this was such a desired title, still don't understand, but oh well) and the high score was....25?

Rarity engenders some otherwise inexplicable behavior!

I think it was either a 27" or 29" I saw cobbled together at Paradise Arcade Shop using Barry's kit. It looked pretty nice to me.

Edit: I was correct that is was 25"

Problem would be that rewinding that yoke and then finding a HV unit that could generate the voltage necessary for that thing are two things on the never could happen list.
Sad-
Seems like the biggest possible CRT vector would be 45".

45" tube, hand made, 450 lbs.. Released in 1989 for $40,000 with supposedly 20 making their way to America.

nothing is as bad a barrier.. it also has a 23"

if your counting projections, back in the cax parkside hall days I think they were using a zvg setup to project 12'? vector images on a wall.
Man, would love to see some old school video on that...

here is something. I thought is was playing more than astteroids at cax.. and I thought it was years earlier...

Funny, as be been contemplating trying to shoehorn a 25" tube with an Amplifone setup into a Tempest. I almost have all the parts to do it. Was going to put one of those FPGA boards in so I could play Major Havoc. With 25" MH would almost be the correct size.
I am not sure how wide the Tempest cab is, but here is a 25" in a Space Duel cab I am working on.

Here's a fun project idea... rewind 3 yokes and convert a rear projection TV into a rear projection vector monitor. :) Good luck with convergence on that! Rewinding just a single one and making a monochrome monitor is cheating. ;)

DogP
Awesome :)
If I remember my display history correctly, Evans and Sutherland mfg the largest commercial vector display for years- a planetarium display called digistar. Similar in theory ;)

Did you cut a new piece of wood to convert to a single speaker like the Gravitar or Black Widow cabs?
No, this was a Gravitar cab that was missing the upper speaker section and top. When I made new wood for those I decided to make it a duel speaker Like a Space Duel. I like the better sound from the duel speakers and didn't care that it doesn't match the cab.
