The Awesome Finds Thread

Boom goes the dynamite! Wasn't going to go, but I wandered over to Savers after work. Someone must have just donated their entire vintage tabletop game collection from back in the day. $4 each and the best part is they all work and all have battery covers! The frogger is immaculate. Defender is excellent and the Pac Man is good, just needs some new stickers. Also got this really cool Coleco battery/AC adapter kit with the Pac Man so you can insert the fake batteries and plug it in to play instead. I never saw that before back in the day, but it's cool. I'm super happy.

WOW...nice grabs.

You don't want to know how much I spent on all this.

NHL 96 is complete, all the rest are box and insert only.

Nothing awe inspiring, but two new Savers finds to keep the thread alive. A C64 DTV plug and play for $3, and a complete boxed Wrebbit New York New 3d puzzle for $5 (going on ebay shortly)

Just picked up a loose N64 Zombie Nation cart at a yard sale. Going straight to Ebay.

Picked up an Atari VCS Heavy Sixer on CL for $20. Doesn't seem to work (black screen on start up), but I'm hoping I can get it running at some point.

Well...I was going to have an awesome post about how my neighbor dropped off her kids old top loader, N64, Genesis, and ~50 games (I paid her asking price of $50), but the next day she talked to him on the phone, and he came unglued so I returned them to her.

There were some decent titles too...CIB Harvest Moon I think was the best one.

It's not game related, but is repair related... I picked up a very nice Nikon stereo microscope with ring light for $50.

It doesn't have a mounting base so I have to figure out a way to mount it on my bench but it will be awesome once I do for inspecting surface mount soldering connections.

Ouch, man.

While it sucks for you, I can understand the kid's problem with it. It is both funny and sad to me. Pretty cliche story, actually.

Happens all the time: kid (or young adult) leaves stuff at parent's house, parents get tired of it and let it go. Kid gets disappointed. People post that their parents sold their collections all the time, or they left it out in the cold, ruined it, etc. I read one the other day where some kid's mom got rid of a $1500 game he had stashed away somewhere because he wasn't living at home.

I don't get why these kids don't tell their parents that they intend on keeping this stuff or at least express the value of it. They don't realize while they are living at their house they don't own anything, their parents do. And if they do own it, they need to make it clear and set up that it is in storage, not for sale.

haha.

Well hopefully the 'kid' will get his shit now :p I had to finally do that a few years ago when my dad told me he was getting ready to put all my shit on the curb. I can't blame them, I've got a ton of shit.

This probably isn't an "awesome" find, but I thought it was interesting. I picked up a Mega Drive 2 AC adaptor (looks to be aftermarket) at Goodwill for $2. Anybody know why it is rated for 220V input yet has an American plug?

Picked this up at Goodwill yesterday. Amazing condition, most of it looks like it was never touched. Additional hint book was included which was originally purchased separately. I loved this game back in the day, but I can't believe what this sells for now. Even the one off pieces like the Class President poster and the hint book are $30-50 each alone.

With as much attention that video games are getting in the secondary market, PC games are still being overlooked. You can find some good scores out there for sure!

I need to find this exact same thing.

A couple weeks ago I picked up two Sega six-button controllers for $2 at the same Goodwill I found the power adaptor. Today I was putting them in a box with my other Genesis controllers and I realized that these are different from my others. These are smaller and have a blue start button which apparently means they're the Japanese version. I think they feel more comfortable in my hands than the US version. The model number is SJ-6000.

Nothing ground breaking- just keeping the thread alive. Picked this up at a yard sale. A Flintsones "Flintstick". Forever matches are pretty common, but I cant find much info it. Funny seeing old smoking tie ins to cartoons.
