Here's the story. I occasionally post a wanted ad on the local area website forum for WTB arcade machines. The last good hit I got was an ice cold beer in working condition for $150.
The night before last I posted and this morning I get this email.
"Hello,

I am in the process of cleaning out my house to move and I have an old Ms Pacman arcade game that I am looking to get rid of. I live in Leonardtown so maybe you could stop by and see it. It is not working at this point…not sure what is wrong but I was unable to turn it on when I tried. This is a very large arcades style game…about 6 feet tall.

Betsy"

Of course I call immediatly and head on over to check it out. The weird thing is its a pac, not a mspac. Anyways she was just looking to get rid of it so she didnt have to move it and I got it for a measly 50 bucks. The game is complete and in pretty good condition other than the bezel is flaking bad. The internals look completely unmolested and original. Initial power up yielded absolutly nothing so im hoping for something simple like a main fuse or interlock. Here's a couple of pics, be back in a few after I get it running.

About 10 minutes was right. It was just a fuse...seriously. The main fuse was blown and one of the 1A fuses was blown. Changed them out and the game plays perfect. It has hangley man roms in it. The monitor has a beautiful picture. I think the bezel can be saved, the flaking is only in the area of the instruction cards. I think I can scan, print them out and stick them on and the bezel will look pretty damn good.
Its still got the filter board so I have to get rid of that and upgrade the fuse block. The monitor has been recapped recently so I dont need to mess with that. Other than that it just needs a good cleaning and a little rewiring where the interlock was removed.
Forgot to mention, the lady game me an X-box for free. No games but did get a couple controllers with it.

I was hoping it was a mspac but no complaints here. I didnt check the counter but I dont think its seen a whole lot of use judging by the cabinet and cpo wear and the joystick is tight.

Awesome find. Gotta love when its a easy fix.

I just bought a Frenzy ZPU board for $10. It was sold as nonworking, carpet pattern showing. I put it in my Berzerk cab, and yes carpet pattern showing. So I pulled
the board back out and saw half the dip switches weren't pushed in. So I went through and set the dip switches, and retried the board, and bang.....I got Frenzy!!!
I played a few games, and now all I need to do is get the original battery off the board.

Nice score! It seems like the best deals always happen when you're not really looking... Bonus xbox too, nice!

Wow, what an awesome find. I usually get flagged for wanted posts every time, and the responses I get are usually dreamers anyway.

If your letting that Xbox go for a yard sale price, hit me up.

Make me an offer on it. I have the unit, video cable and two controllers.

What really makes this a success story is that it's now in a home that'll it'll get the love and respect it deserves. Congrats Riptor this is truly a "Happy Ending".

I post WTB arcade ads every so often also. The first time I posted an ad, I got my GORF for $60. It had an extra boardset that needed new RAM and have sold them and that paid for the whole game.

The second time I got my Monte Carlo Pinball for a $10 tip.

The most recent time I got my Asteroids and a junky old Centipedee conversion.

WTB ads prove to be quite effective if you can keep from getting flagged. Nice score on that Pac Man. I wish mine was in that good of shape.

My ads wont get flagged on this site, it actually has a wanted section. Its the website for our local county. It has an arcade section but there is rarely anything posted in there and when there is its overpriced.

Nice score Mike..I've been trying to score some pac or ms pac cabs local too...no luck..I have like four to five co-workers wanting to buy these from me...figures when no one wanted them I saw them all the time but didnt' have space to snatch them up....kicking myself now..
If you want to get rid of cheap come on up...we'll work a deal that thing would be sold right away.....:D
