The 12-11 Harrisburg Auction thread

Thanks! Hmm.. I'm toying with the idea of going. I keep getting a buzzer though when I hear "gas $3.00" :(

We'll see.

Pm me your phone number and I can call you with a list of whats there. I'll be there friday at opening and Saturday at opening if there is anything worth going back for.

I'll be happy to shoot over my number, but to be honest I was just wanting to go for the sake of seeing one in action. I'm not by any means in a position to buy another game right now, just wanted to see what all shows up and how it rolls. I don't get out much these days so anything that has arcade games on site is always of interest to me anymore! :D

I do thank you for the offer to be the sohchx scout though! ;)

No problem man!! I'll be sure to post pics afterwards as always so keep a look out,a list of going prices will be up saturday night.

Hey i could maybe send my pacman project down with someone local if someone is interested in getting it. I was selling it for $75.00 i live about 2 and a half hours away, but i'm less than 45 minutes from sohchx, and he would maybe take it down for a fee (not sure just throwing this out there)

here;s the thread on it for sale>

As soon as I saw what you were asking for that, I had to turn my head until my darkness went (Stones quote). If I had the cash I'd already be on my way to your place, singing as loudly as I could, "WEST VIRGINIA.......... MOUNTAIN MAMA........... TAKE ME HOME.......... COUNTRY ROAD!!!!" :D

Question for anybody who was at the auction earlier this year... did they have a lot of touch screen games, and what were the prices going for them. Outrageous or reasonable?

Tons of touches from every company in the game. I bought a working Maxx Jade for $100 at the last one. The flat screens usually go for around $300-400 but it really depends on the version and manufacturer.

This auction was a let down in MD. One major reason - shill bidding. I was outbid by the people trying to sell their stuff at least five times. There were not many classics, and there was a glut of half-hearted refurbish jobs of generic cabinets with cheap multi-boards. I am not sure if or why the auction company allows shill bidding, but it is really discouraging for buyers. I almost think they are in on it...

I agree which is why I was hesitant to attend this one but I figured why not since I have no plans. Your right about those multi games, they were mostly junk cabs with a flat screen and multi board thrown in but they were selling for like $700. I really think they throw those multis together the night before auction because some of them looked to have been in a barn but had beatiful pictures on the tubes lol. Whatever sells I guess.

The length of an auction is determined by the amount of equipment up for sale. I've been to auctions that were wrapped up by noon and some that went until 1 or 2 in the morning. No way to tell until the morning of the auction.

You aren't even at a guarantee then. There is equipment being unloaded for almost the entire day during auction time.

Anyone from KLOV should wear some type of badge or something just so we can put faces to names on here, like a mini get together.

They have a million touchscreen games, most are at what I think is a reasonable rate.

I have a love-hate relationship with shill bidding. It has helped me buy back equipment that gets a really low bid on it because you can't do reserves at these auctions but it has driven my cost up of what I buy. An example would be of my Stargate cocktail. It maxed at about $300 at auction so I bought it back from the auction and kept it until I get a higher price on it.

ahhh I want to go now...gotta first drive to NJ to pick up the SUV, pick up a trailer then drive 3 hours and 40 mins to it...think its worth it? ...anyone know any other alternatives to getting it home...I would rather just drive out there without having to get a u-haul unless i was certain I was picking something up!

Any News

Still debating on making the 3hr trip or not...looking for pins and buy now prices...any news good or bad -- please.

Thanks,
Mike

For anybody going tonight. . be careful. A good 2-4 hr period of snow came through earlier and put some a good dusting of snow down. I'm not sure how it is down around Harrisburg but it was bad up here. Roads are just wet now, but once the night sets on us, look out for black ice.

thanks for the warning..Hey anyone going tomorrow, want to make some money and be my proxy bidder for a Star Wars Trilogy machine?? Just looking for a working one , doesnt need to be mint condition...I can come meet you during the day with a trailer and everything, just dont want to have to drive 3 1/2 hours for nothing. Let me know, never done this before so not sure what people expect, or if they even do it :)

I just got in from the auction around 6:30 and as usual was not impressed but I got there when the doors opened so plenty of stuff should be coming between tonight and tommorow. Right now there are very few classics as usual. There was a Centipede,Turbo outrun,Golden axe,Defender,4-5 dedicated Neo's,Time crisis, virtua cop, various Tekken's,Police trainer,Johnny nero,Tutankum,Police trainer,Fishermans bait, lethal enforcers,Outrun 2's basically allot of Jamma cabs. The roads were fine and traffic was good. The selection was so small I didn't bother to take pics, sorry.
