That one person that you just can't get a game from no matter what.

For the past 19 yrs I have been trying to get a pristine Galaga from a semi-local hobby shop that I frequent with no luck. The story is that the shop owner only makes money from the machine and does not own it. She says that it belongs to a family friend that is not willing to sell it. All these years it killed me to sit in the pits next to the racetrack every Saturday staring at that machine knowing that I could'nt have it. The game was put into the shop the week it released and has been there ever since. It's super clean only needing the CPO replaced, everything else is still there and all original. The picture is crisp and the controls work flawlessy. The bezel needs to be taken out and the underside cleaned as it has never been done so its foggy but still playable. I'd love to know how many plays are on the meter as they should be pretty low being in a hobby shop all it's life. She has also had a pristine Outrun full size upright since it was new but it recently sold. I also tried to get that machine but it was never for sale. Of course after all these years of begging and pleading she sold it after I had already obtained one. Anyway,I had'nt been to the shop in over a year but was in town this weekend and decided to pay a visit to see if the Galaga was still there and it is. I dropped in a quarter and got my best score ever at wave 15, 81,830 points. Nothing ground breaking but a best for me. Anyway, have you ever had that one game that you have been trying to get from a single person for years but they just wont give it up,eventhough it will go to a better home?

Sorry for the long story.

Very cool that is a beautiful cab. :D Glad you finally got it too after all these years.

Oh lol not so rad then. Hope it goes to your collection someday.

I doubt it'll ever happen. Apparently two people are already in line in front of me for it. It's not a grail of mine, just a badass game that deserves a place in my collection,or anyone elses for that matter.

No,no. You misread the story. It's still not for sale and still resides in the hobby shop where you see it pictured.

Offer $5000 for it and they'll sell it. What you really meant was - they won't sell it for what you want to pay.

John Cannon?

His stuff is dirty, dusty, broken, water damaged, gold plated, unobtanium, over priced, etc... and he'll jerk you around 9 ways to Sunday on meeting times/locations. Extreme time waster.

No shit...

I have a local here whos family is or was in the amusement business. He has all kinds of stuff from arcade games and pins ot old carnival rides. WHat he has is al the leftovers and worn out junkers basically. I have tried and tried for years to work a deal with him, everythime im close he backs off or dissappears for awhile. I honestly think theres something wrong with him mentally and its pretty obious he has hoarding tendencies.

I have dreams of someday coming in there and just buying him out when he is ready, but honestly i doubt that will ever happen.

Oh it'll happen....

As part of an Estate sale after all his crap falls over on him and they drag him out stiff as a board.

Seriously though, this happened to me as well with a dedicated Simpsons machine my local theater had. They had it for years and I probably dropped more quarters than anyone in it (actually I take that back, simpsons is an easy game). Nevertheless I was always thwarted in my attempts to buy the game.

In fact, I wasn't even into collecting arcade machines at the time. I just really loved that game and wanted it. Long story short, I come back one day to see a movie and it is gone. They sold it without so much as even one call to me which is complete BS as all the managers in the game area had my number!! Also I was "friends" with someone who worked there.

It's really there fault I didn't get into collecting games earlier. Had they not slighted me, lord knows what my collection would look like now....

goddamn bowling alley/poolhall/tavern has every pac game including baby pac, some old vectors, ice cold beer, bud tapper and a bunch of others, when they remodeled they basically closed off the gameroom, none of the games work anymore and havent since about 1990. the new owner inherited the pace when his old man died and will never sell because he thinks he is sitting on a gold mine and the things will be worth a fortune someday.

HAHAHAHA!

Was wondering when you were going to post. :D

How many hours of your life has that guy wasted now?

Just sitting and waiting for him in Dallas? About 28 hours total - over 4 separate days.

I woke up the other morning to find I had 24 text messages from him - all sent at 3:45-4:30 in the morning. Some were word for word transcripts of some of his court cases. I told my boss to tell him to quit calling and texting me...

Back when I had space to work with, there was a local pizza place with a 4 player dedicated TMNT that was dead. I tried to make a deal, but was told no. Sad part of the story is the place burned down a year later and the game was lost forever.

I did add a bare PCB to my collection this year though, so it sort of worked out.
