Ahh the iPad! How great is it just to be able to pick up the web anytime and anywhere you want to? Sure I have a iPhone, but because of the smaller screen, I don't use it at home as much as I do the iPad. Now my iPhone battery lasts allot longer!

Sunday, I pick up the ipad and tap the craiglist app and proceed to go through my saved searches.
What do I see???

Q*Bert Complete but not working posted 40 mins ago... wait for it.... $175!!
There was even a pic!

So I jump off the couch, get in my truck, look it up on my iphone and call the guy, no answer so I leave a message. First thing that goes through my head! DAMN HE SOLD IT!
One minute later, he calls me back and says he still has it!
I'll take it, can I come get it now? Done! Picked it up and its mine!

It's all there, looks like the power board needs a part on the heat sink. But get this: the part is included brand new in a bag, inside the machine!

Cabinet is in solid shape and the insides are CLEAN!
Soo happy!!

I know pics or it didn't happen...

I officially hate you !

The only Q*bert around here that I _might_ be able to get has a 850 Euro price tag on it.

That's over 1000 dollars.....

thats europe for you, mind you that said me being in uk i would think that it would cost about the same in £'s,£850+.

americans dont know how lucky they are, only backdraw for them is cos they buy most of their cabs dirt cheap they have no high value at all,so they buy a cab for $150,spend $'s on it and they are lucky to get $150 again when they resell.

luckily for us due to rarity of cabs they have higher value, its just a case of finding the right cab and restoring it to a state where it increases in value.

my spacezap has cost me (lets say) £650 all in all,its nearly a finished restore but,its worth £1000+ easy due to rarity (am american wouldnt even think about spending that on a spacezap),thats what makes uk/europe arcade market better, less machines means more rarity, more rarity means higher prices.america has cl ads galore and warehouses full of cabs and collectors 2 to the dozen on every street so the prices of cabs are ridiculously cheap as the collectors and the abundance of machines is forcing the prices down.

ok having a basement with 26 cabs, when it comes to offloading they are not worth nearly as much as the original price that was paid and nothing in comparisson to our prices or the seller puts too high a price on the cab and noone bites.i see it here from time to time, tempest cab valuation,$350 they wang on it.my god!i think,i would be lucky to find one never mind $350.

they dont use their noggins,if i was a collector and had a source of cabs and i would be selling them abroad with shipping.

for example, any americans reading this go find a galaga dedicated cab here in the united kingdom (even europe) and if you find one see how much it is.i would have to spend £1000 and import from usa and i would probably be getting cheaper deal.

just wish i was mega rich,i would get a few containers full and import them to britain and make a fortune.

nice score!
:)

Is there a switcher in there? Also it looks like the original PS is still attached.. humm.. weird.. Great find though!

I noticed that too. Haven't had a chance to check it out though. Are Qbert power supplies troublesome?

As far as the uk goes that's very interesting, I'll have to keep that in mind...

As far as the value of selling in the US, well who said anything about selling? I'll have all my machines for a very long time. If I ever do have to sell one I will be more concerned with having the machine go to a good home, then getting my full investment back.

Kinda like my truck, I've spent thousands on wheels tires, a lift, an alarm, and other custom parts. I'll never get my money back when I sell it. I realize that and in all honesty I can live with that and it's totally worth it.
