Game Hogs

Have they implemented any rules for the free play games yet at this show?

I know in the past when I have gone some players tend to "HOG" the machines. You will be waiting patiently to play a machine behind a player and then the game will end and they will just start another not even offering to play a 2 player game or acknowledging you waiting at all. A few times I have said how about doubles and some agree happily while other seem to be more reluctant or outright refuse.

When you pay $20 a day to get in it seems like they should lay down some ground rules for proper etiquette in these situations. Obviously many people do not know how to act.

The last email I had from them had the following section at the bottom:

Texas is home to the most polite and friendly folks around, but just as a reminder, here's a little pinball etiquette:

  • Please do not kick or hit on the machines. This has never been an issue, but we always like to remind folks to treat the games as if they were their own (the game owners will appreciate this).
  • Please do not put drinks or food on the games (and please wash your hands after eating that big bowl of Texas nachos). Trash cans are accessible throughout the game room.
  • We love seeing kids at the show. Often times they have never seen a pinball machine and we encourage parents to teach them, but smaller kids should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Please share that great game. If you notice someone waiting to play the game you are playing, please allow them to play when your game is finished. Better yet, challenge them to a multiplayer game.
  • And finally, keep in mind the folks that put on the TPF are just hobbyists (like many of you) and volunteers. This is not our primary business. Please be patient. We will be working hard to make it a great show for everyone.

I agree though. It would be nice if these were posted and event staff would watch for lines forming behind certain machines.

Last year there was a line 15 or more deep at one point to play Medieval Madness and some backward hat wearing knucklepunk punched up 4 players played them all and then punched up 4 more. The guy behind him mentioned something, to which Mr. BHWKP replied "So f***ing what. I f***ing stood in line too, jackwad!".

At that point, I decided it was time to go get lunch. When I got back, MM was down. According to the vendor nearby, Mr. BHWKP punched up another 4 players and then broke something on the castle jamming the ball. So yes, pin police would be nice.

So remember, as the TPF team says:
That's all! See everyone THIS WEENEND! We're so excited!!!!
