just curios, does the sound of the bootleg sound the same? Doesn't look like it uses a pokey chip.

Depends. MAME has two bootlegs: atetrisb and atetrisb2.

atetrisb sounds exactly the same, although Atari is missing from the opening screen and instead of TETRIS on the play screen, you see PUZZLE.
atetrisb2 looks exactly the same (includes Atari and TETRIS on the screens above) but the music and sfx are ABYSSMAL and sound like a drunk toddler playing a googly-eyed xylophone.

Hopefully the buyer got the former.
