So I am starting my fun project of restoring the Free Tetris Cabaret that i picked up here from bladou20 back in November. I was getting ready to start asking some general questions about proving it is a dedicated tetris, because the original Atari label is long gone and the cabinet has been repainted black, when tonight i was looking at the power supply and found the serial number TET0128 in the picture that will be posted below. I will try and keep up on posting pictures but will also be asking some questions to gauge which direction i should go in like if i should replace badly broken boards and which materials to use to stay as close to original as possible. I would like to bring it fully back to its glory, with some possible upgrades like CossakWarrior's monitor bezel even though i have a nice original paper one..

well i hope to at least have some pics later this week but here is the serial number as a start.

That's what I was thinking. Also anyone know the production numbers for the dedicated cabarets?? Saw an old posting from back in the 90's that said 171 were only made. Any validity to that number??

171 is the number, see here: http://www.atarigames.com/atarinumbers90s.pdf

Mine is s/n TET0135. I have NOS side art and CPO for whenever I get around to doing mine. I'm interested to hear if you find a good replacement for the silver vinyl on the sides. Also, if someone comes up with a replacement for the "rotate" bezels that go between the buttons and the CP, I need one. Mine came with one missing, and they seem to be unique to the cabaret.

I may have the button bezels you seek. :)

Any thoughts of getting escapepod to just make complete sides with the Tetris art and silver vinyl? I know nos art is preferred but would look awesome and I bet they can get real close on the color match.

Hadn't thought about it, I'd rather keep it as close to original as possible.

No it had to come all the way off. Bunch of deep scratches down into the sides so they need to be filled and sanded. Next key question is do I reapply silver vinyl or go to black Formica

vinyl question... so has anyone been able to compare the tetris cabaret original silver vinyl to like the vinyl used on the 720 to see if they are the same, or close? if so might be able to use Phoenix for the vinyl...

I compared TOG's 720 vinyl to my Tetris and it is not the same.

Thanks. I think what I will end up doing is black Formica and repro side art. Unless someone knows of someone with a complete set of nos side art.

Cleaned up the cp tonight. Even though it is faded I think I am going to leave it alone. Can only be original once and since I had to strip the vinyl on the sides I want to keep as much on it as possible. IMG_2643.JPGIMG_2644.JPGIMG_2645.JPGIMG_2646.JPGIMG_2647.JPG
