Testor's Enamel Paint Marker...

I've tried Johnson's Paste was, and Mother's (California Gold) paste wax. Both wipe off the testor's pen with zero effort...I've wasted $20 on wax I can't use for this machine.

Did you try using a clear coat over the Testors before waxing it? Such as an automotive clear?

Yes. I used paint markers, then I Clearcoated it with Dupont ChromaClear Automotive clearcoat, and then waxed it, and the wax went right through an automotive clearcoat and dissolved the paint pen.

...seriously?

Yeah, it was bare. I actually got it to work, and here is the info for archival sake:

The paint Pen dries quickly, but it's not really 'cured'. It took about a day and a half before it was cured enough to work with (at least on the outer layer)...after a day and a half of cure time I was able to *dab* (NOT wipe) the wax on on in the touched up areas, and after the wax hazed I *very lightly* buffed it out...this was using Meguire's California Gold; I am never using the Johnson's again, so I didn't try it with this method (Johnson's is yellowish, doesn't gloss as well, and smells kinda like turpentine)

If you wipe and not dab, the wax WILL still smear and begin to remove the paint from the paint pen, even with a day and a half of cure time. Maybe waiting even longer will help more and eventually the enamel will act like acrylic...but I am not patient enough to find out.

Hopefully this info will be useful to somebody who needs to do minor touch-ups but doesn't want to deal with clearcoat or putting mylar over it.
