I have a Data East Monday Night football pin. The display stopped working. Since I titled the other thread Monday Night Football, I thought I'd approach this from a different angle.

Anyway, it has a dual 16 digit display. I am getting the voltage I need at the display. I want to test the display itself and verify it is working. What do I need to do to light up all of the segments to see that the thing works?

Yeah I checked there first. All he references there is the +/- 100V. Well that's not completely true. He also discusses partial display issues. But that's not my issue. Is there a way to strobe the display to verify that it is working?

There is always a way. Dangerous as it is, but if you are sure you have the -100v and the +90v and +5v present, you can by using the schematic apply the -100v and +90v to the correct pins of U9 and U11 to get individual segments to light up. Safer and easier to test the disply in another DE game of that era....Phantom, Time mahine...
It seems strange that both displays stopped at the same time as the only common factor of the 2 is power, and the blanking, but anything is possible!

I'm positive that I have +/- 100V and 5V. I have -94V at VKK on each display. I wish I knew someone with a similar game around here so I could try it. I will try applying the voltages on U9 and U11 as you suggest. At least that will tell me if they work. What does the blanking signal do for the display?

The blanking signal is like an on-board system checker...if all is well the blanking signal will allow the cpu to completely boot. The game does function completely, other than the displays, right?
