Been setting up more test rigs than I have monitors for these days. I usually use original 13" G07s, WG4600s, or 4900s, but I'm running out of those.

Looking for any good suggestions, I like something in the size of 13" or a little smaller. I guess I'm open to other resolutions and conversion cards if you have any good ideas, but would prefer something that can accept CGA resolutions from classic game boards.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Anthony

Don't know any model numbers right off but if you can get your hands on some old countertop poker games, that might help.

SONY PVM-1354Q I picked mine up from ebay pretty cheap.

+1

I dumped the old commodore monitors that were constantly failing and have never looked back. I bought two more as backups - you can get a great deal for them on eBay. I paid less than $100 each shipping included in separate purchases. Here are two links describing the monitor and where to source the cable. The nice thing is it is enclosed with a flat top so you can put stuff on top of it and no HV shock hazard if it was open frame.

Thanks, perfect, just what I was hoping for. What about the 1351Q model? Seems to be similar as they share the same service manual.

Has anyone tried one?

some people might bitch about the Commodore monitors but the 1084 series is pretty darn nice, common, and takes CGA. my 1084s i've had for a very long time and it's still reliable and has stereo inputs which can be handy. i used it with my SNES and Playstation for years.

I've seen a few people use PSOne Screens which aparently are easy to hack / transport:

& Can be bought for pretty cheap if you can find them. I have One boxed up with maybe 3hrs of total use on it... Maybe one day I'll set up a rig.

Yes, I have one of those too... and they do work well. I used that one as a portable monitor, though it'd be much nicer if it ran off batteries (which I may try one of these days).

Drop Raven a PM. There is a chance he may have one of the 7" Panasonic CGA monitors left or he can give you the name of his supplier. I use one from the original batch of pachislot LCDs I bought on eBay. It works great as my bench monitor. I used to use a 19" CGA monitor for my burn in test rig, but I just upgraded (downsized?) it to a 13" CGA monitor to save a little space.

How did you guys hook up the PVM-1354Q's? I found one but the din connector is different than what I use on my Commodore. Can anyone tell me the correct connector and the pinout? Thanks

If its an Amdek plug you should be able to google the pinout...see if the plug on the right in the pic below looks like it would match:

I am currently using a round 6 pin DIN to connect to my Commodore but it appears I will have to change to the 9 pin connector. On a previous post MrBill said:

"The RGB input is with BNC connectors. I bought a couple of Apple monitor cables that go from individual RGBS BNCs to a 9 pin D sub with standard CGA pinout on ebay for 2 bucks each."

So it appears I use the BNC connectors to connect with, so my question is can anyone point me in the right direction on Ebay for the cable referenced above? Can anyone send me a pic of the actual connections on your PVM-1354Q? Thanks
