I'm working on getting a Hantarex MTC9000 monitor working.

I replaced the flyback, caps, and hot and when i power the monitor it sounds right. I don't know the terminology, but it's obvious that power is running through it, and there's that high pitched noise of a CRT monitor being on. Before I replaced anything, I was getting steady clicking. When I first plugged it in when I got it, the Flyback smoked. I am missing the east/west board on the monitor, which i should be getting any day now.

I'm pretty sure my game pcb doesn't work (galaga). It looks like a dog lived on it for a while. No cracks, but really dirty, and hairy. Haha. When I hook it all up, I don't get a picture, or sounds (though I'm positive the sound portion of the PCB is busted).

Is there a way to verify the monitor itself is no working without a game board? Should it just be a blank screen if nothing is plugged in but AC, or would I get static like a TV not hooked up to cable?

Also, does anyone know if there's a fuse on the chassis? I couldn't find one, or a place for one.

You can try slowly turning up the brightness or the pic adjustment on the flyback. Some monitors make a blank pic others don't, but at least thats one way to check. Don't turn it up too high - just see if you can get a blank screen out of it. If you see raster lines - turn it back down.

Great. Thanks! I found the fuse, and i was able to turn up the brightness enough to see a white box. Seems to be working just fine. Thanks for the help.

We'll see what it looks like once my PCB gets here.
