Im sure this has happened to everyone in here.... I basically have no want to turn on my machines anymore...... I mean when one was broken there was this drive to keep tinkering with em... Like i couldnt wait to get off work and start the adventure, now that they have been working for the past month.... They have had maybe 10 minutes play.

Now i know i could prolly sell em or switch em out, and this is where im torn, i dont want to sell em lol. Im honestly thinking about working on chassis while they are powered on with metal tools :) just to give me something more to work on ha!

Anyway maybe its just that there isnt many mortal kombat fans around me to keep these arcades fun and enjoyable on a regular basis...

Your thoughts / experiences?

Hits me every so often. I usually just rearrange the gameroom when that happens. Bam! New arcade. ;)

Prep the machines remove batteries. Do the shrink wrap thing and pump dry nitrogen and put silica gel in packs to dry up any moisture. Go on a long vacation away from the machines at least 2 weeks then you should be recharged and redeay toplay again :)

Get some people over there and make it a social thing.

Maybe take one you're not real good at, look up the Twin Galaxies record, and see if you can improve your score to climb the ladder a little.

or walk away for a while and don't think much about it.

You don't play with your weiner Everyday do you? What's the problem, just play them when the urge hits you.

Not to drop a modern twist in on you. But I go in swings ps3 then arcade. My lust does for the one and picks up for the other. Have you tried the new mk for ps or xbox. You said you were looking for new mk players no better place than online.

Could it be you are more on the down swing for Mortal Kombat? I just noticed that is the majority of your collection. When I first got into this I did the same thing with Street Fighter, where I had to have a ton of dedicated machines for each major Capcom fighter. That can get a little "enh" after a bit, especially if you don't have people over to play against all the time.

If it is MK related "enh"-ness, one suggestion may be to investigate pairing down. Maybe keeping 1 or 2 to cover your bases (I'm down to 3 Capcom fighting machines myself...one for CPS-1 SF2, one big blue for CPS-2 and one Z-Back because...well...I'm sentimental about that one). Maybe you could have one machine doing MK 1 and 2 then another doing 3, Ultimate, 4 and 5?

The bottomline to this suggestion is to open up room for other machines (or even room for other interests) but you still have your MK fix for when the feeling comes back.

Edit: as mentioned also, I tend to play everything game related, so I also have times where I just don't have the time to play my machine for weeks at a time. It's just how it is. :p

I have nothing to add I just love this qoute. I think I enjoy my wiener more than my games for what it's worth. I think my wife likes the games more? And she doesn't play them much??

What's a game you've always wanted but either have never found locally or can't afford to buy outright? Have any games you're willing to let go? Start networking and find out if you can trade up to the game you want or sell a couple of ones to fund it.

I've said it many times here, but for me, the hunt is the most enjoyable part of the hobby.

Ahhhh, Avidgeek beat me to the "What the hell is nastalgia"? thing. :D And I like his guess.

I have found that unless other people are over, I have no interest in playing my games. I never realized how heavy the social aspect / competitiveness of the games was, before I owned them.

I think we've all been phased by newer technology and graphics, as well. If I was a kid with the arcade that I have now, I'd have never left until I was starving and had to eat, or go to the bathroom...

Always a step behind Jawhn...but I love you anyways brother, not in a Phet kind of way, and w/o added soy sauce.

Actually NASTALGIA is the east coast way of pronouncing Nostalgia however its specific to New Jersey regions, maybe even Brooklyn too.

"Pahk the cah!"
"Yo, you gawt a qwartah for dis her arcade?"
"Arcade games is pure Nastaglia"

I would say diversify your collection a bit. And I also agree with the comment about having social events. Personally though, I find solace in trying to best my high scores even when other peeps aren't around.
I currently have working: MK1 and 2, Tekken 2 and 3, a JRok Multi-Williams, Smash TV, 4 Rush the Rocks, Pole Position II, Asteroids, Multipede, 60-1, Area51/Maximum Force, Atari X/O Football, World Series The Season and a Last Action Hero pin.
So there's fighters, shooters, racers, old school and then there is SMASH TV...

Rarely are they all on at once, except for the occasional party or when I decide to have a go at all of them. But it is even more rare if I don't at least fire one of them up!

Man I hope I never get burned out. That's a lot of work. :)
