I've got a Terminator 2 pinball I just finished up. I noticed it's got a L3 revision ROM in U6 on the CPU board. Looking at the Williams ROM library
http://www.pinball.com/Williams/tech/wpcroms.html#t....I see they're up to a L8 revision. I burned a copy from their zip file, but it's not working in my machine. My machine is jumpered correctly. I noticed they listed the checksum as BE08.....on my burner, I'm getting a checksum of 3F76 when I load their code. Can anyone tell me what checksum they are getting from the Williams library's ROM. Is the listed code wrong...or is my burner screwing with me?

Alternately, anyone got a good L8 revision U6 file they could e-mail me? ([email protected])

Thanks!
Edward

I'm emailing you one from a different source. It plays in Visual Pinball and assume it is good. I do not have a program to generate a checksum. Please compare it with the one you have.

Thank you....I'm getting the same checksum as the Williams library. Great, something's wrong with my burner.

Sorry for reviving this old thread but i think i've got some useful info for everyone else having this problem (like me, finding this thread via google).
The standard rom in the T2 is 256kbyte (2Mbit), a 27c020. This fits upto revision L6. However the L8 is 512kbyte (4 Mbit), atleast the version from ipdb.org.
This means it will not fit into the standard rom and you have to get a larger one (27c040).
I have done this and burned the L8 from ipdb successfully - it works.

I saw some ebay seller that sold a williams original L8 upgrade which appears to be one a 27c020, but i have no idea how they made that one fit.

As for the changes...some people claim L8 works better with LEDs...cant tell, i am still waiting for my kit to replace the old lamps.

in the mean time, you can see about disabling all the lamp dimming settings because you lose that functionality with LEDs. but they're better, because their blue light will cause macular degeneration and even insomnia.
