Managed to pick up this cabinet for a good deal, it was playing blind and I could tell it had sound issues from the sellers video in the ad. I swapped out the dead K7000 with one of my rebuilt units and ran the board tests, though I had to first reverse the vertical yoke connector to see the screen in the correct orientation .
The ROM and ram tests came out good, only one bong during sound test and almost all of the speech bites/sound effects worked.
Main issue is that when the game gets to the title screen, all/most of the speech/sound effects bites start playing. I've already ordered the cap kit for the sound board but upon closer inspection it looks like the C103 cap already leaked/out gassed reaping havoc on the traces leading to the OKI (U1) IC. Looking at the OKI datasheet and the sound board schematics, I may have to use 30 awg wire to jumper from the pins on the OKI chip to the signal destinations (U12, U13, U17, C46 and U14). I still need to probe so we'll see.
Either way I'm happy to bring this classic cabinet home, lots of fond memories playing this game at the movie theaters.
