Terminator 2 owner - Are the guns suppose to get very warm after playing for a while?

I bought a reconditioned T2 arcade game from a good guy who fixed the guns from A to Z a couple of days ago. The cab works awesomely, the game is great. But after a few long gaming sessions, I noticed that the top of the guns gets REALLY warm. is that normal? It's not "Uhhh thats about to catch fire" warm, but its pretty surprising.

The "recoil" effect is pretty intense, so I guess its normal that after firing non-stop for a while it gets hot, but still.. I'm just wondering if its normal

When I used to play it in the arcades 20 years ago, I remember them getting warm. And your hands would have that distinct smell from the solenoids.

yes it gets warm but you'll learn to do short burst.

There is one for sale locally for about 500. Is it worth it? Never played the game much bitd. I'm more of an early 80's player. Will kids enjoy it?

Definitely one of my favorite light gun games. My friends and I loved it so much back in the day we got the crappy home ports. On my to get list if I can find one convenient and a good price. I'd say the kids would enjoy it, but that may just be nostalgia talking. ;)

I would think kids would like it, depends on age. My son is 13 and just had a party and my steel gunner was played the entire time.

As for the guns heating up I am not sure since my steel gunner guns do not not recoil right now, I am guessing that would be the part that would get hot.

Definitely one of my favorite light gun games.

Except that it's not a light gun game. Those guns are just big joysticks with twist action essentially...

The game is fun... until you plop in enough credits to get through the whole thing. Then it gets old fast. The wife bitched about the sound of the guns too so I set one on and pulled the fuse off the other.

If you do get it, be sure to replace the "hit" lamps in it. Many people don't even realize they are there and they do add a pretty bitchin effect.

EDIT: I do believe I sold mine for $400...

When I got mine the rat-tat-tat was SUPER LOUD!!!! not realizing that the vulcanized rubber pads were disintegrated inside the gun (to power and rubber bits). Took them apart and put round furniture floor/chair pads in its place. They work great but now for some reason I have to recalibrate the right gun once a day (when we open,. doesn't veer all the way to the right?). Other than that daily issue, this game works great and is a big earner at the arcade.

Well this is bad. Something burned up inside the second gun and now it smells like hell on earth. I'm not looking forward having to find a replacement..

Kids all love gun games like T2 mine gets the most play outside of Crusin cab.

Burned up sounds like solenoid, I wonder if he put the right one in. Mine is decades old and still clacks away.
