Hows it going?! I'm new the this forum, (didn't see a place to introduce myself).

Bought Terminator 2 Judgement day shooting game for 75.00 and working on it myself to tinker with.

I had the monitor working when i bought it, just flickered a lot (I'm pretty sure the game keeps rebooting itself). I took the board out, put it back in, now it sounds like there power to everything, just no flash/glowing in the bottom of the tube. Just curious what else to check.

Steve, if your reading this, I still need help, HAHA!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Paul

Yep. 7197. This monitor is very notorious for having bad solder and traces.

The fuse is in the back. Is it blown?

You could always try replacing C56. :D

Yes, I can fix these with no problems. It's possible your flyback should be replaced, especially if it has white knobs or has little tiny cracks around the adjustment pots...

damn it I'm a newbie...

you won't get it unless you saw that one thread. LOL

funny you say this, I got a T2 as well, and the K7000 doesn't fire up on it. I just dropped one of my U5000s in it. still have to clean the guns, and I should have it ready to go. everything else is working great.

I don't wanna throw money at it if the tube is garbage though, so I'm probably gonna borrow a chassis from the Suzuka to see what condition the tube is in. if it looks great I'll go through the steps of rebuilding the chassis. and hope that's all that's wrong with it.

it's got a white knob flyback, so maybe I'll get "lucky".

or I could just change C56, same difference I guess.

Fixed his monitor. VR, HOT, and flyback were good, traces looked good (but I touched some up anyway). I thought about just swapping C56 to see if it fixed it  but as I could see C57 domed, I knew that wasn't going to do it.

Threw in the full cap kit and it works. Great pic and colors. Took it to him tonight and put it in, and found his tube is just barely doing red. I didn't have my rejuvenator with me, so I'll go back another day to zap it in.

While I was there - I went ahead and fixed his reset issue (voltage too low at chips and some had chip-creep), non working buttons on his control panel (blown fuse on Input board), non-working gun switches (corroded and broken pins in his edge connector), and replaced a broken LED on one of his gun boards (that he had broken off when he took his guns apart and put them back together). Calibrated his guns, put it on free play, and then sat back and watched the inner kid come out as he had a blast mowing down robots....

marvelous. I swapped a good chassis on the tube that came out of my T2, I think it looks pretty good for almost being 20 years old. :p

mod, any experience with the gun pots on these? mine work, but they're really flaky, I'm guessing they're just dirty? would you suggest contact cleaner or am I going to get stuck dropping $180 on new long life pots?
