Is there a such thing as a Terminator 2 Gun Rebuild kit? I have a gun that is very loose... very sloppy. It's so loose that pulling it all the way back separates two gears so if you pull it back and turn the gun, it de-calibrates the gun and can damage the pot as it can make it spin to the end... and if a kid pulls a little hard on it it could damage it. I've looked and don't see any way to "tighten" the post that sticks up to prevent it from causing the separation. The 2nd gun works fine (but is missing some plastic but it's not a big deal).

Are there rebuild parts for T2 guns? I've seen some gears for it, but the gears actually look fine... it's just that they separate when pulled all the way back (the gear at the bottom that is a 1/3 of a circle gear for left/right motion and the small gear to the pot)...

Any ideas?

there are so many dead/broken T2's out there that your best bet is probably to find a pair of spare guns and cannibalize the parts.

...but it sounds like your gun is missing/worn off some piece inside, as you shouldn't be able to pull it back that far

The problem is the the plastic bushings wear out and the hole in the base of the gun gets bigger and creates all the play. I replaced the plastic bushings and replaced the screw with a bigger one that goes in the bottom to replace the amount of play. I even used teflon tape on some of the screws to tighten it up. I may have some pics of what I did somewhere. It's not perfect but it's actually playable now

I would be interested in seeing those photos...

I would also like to know where you got the bushings.

Thanks!

Are the T2 guns identical to the Revolution X guns? I know that some people interchange them. If so, I have a working pair, if you opt to replace rather than repair, let me know.

Well, looks like I only took video of me getting the recoil working. I actually bought a box of random crap from pinball resource that had a bag of those NOS bushings, two NOS bases for the guns which I didn't use and a bunch of other stuff. Basically I stepped up in size in the bolt that holds the gun to the base and added washers to the ends of the pivots where the bushings go. I don't remember how many of the bushings I have left but I can send what I have left to you. I'll have to look tonight. I'll shoot you a PM.

I second this thread, we're in need of a rebuild as well. There's only so much one can do with electrical tape and it seems silly/expensive to replace the entire gun over a few plastic parts. If someone wants to put together a rebuild kit as a 3D printing project, I bet it would be a popular item to stock.

Awesome... thanks!

T2 rebuild kits

I have an unused terminator 2 gun rebuild kit. It comes with the two gears (the pinion for the pot and the hemispherical gear) and a bushing (brass) for the base.

I was thinking about taking the bushing to a machine shop and seeing how much it would be to get replicated, but not sure of how much demand there would be for the part. The gears could be 3d printed, will see if guy at work with printer interested in project.

I am also looking for new bushings. I pulled the ones from my guns last week and thought maybe they were standard size and maybe could be bought somewhere. I need a micrometer to get the exact size. If anyone has a source or gets them made, I am in for 8 of them for sure.

I have attached a picture of the bushing.

What is needed to basically keep up with these guns?

Perhaps it would make sense for us to outline a rebuild kit and review if we can locate parts from other sources.

I would think most common 'wear and tear' components to replace are:

Pots (2 per gun)
Part # 5014-12909-00
5k Long Life Pot .50" Shaft
(Available via happ - http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement_products/accessories/96-4916-00
and other parts resources, currently these Pots are ~$35/ea.
There might be cheaper alternatives available?)

Bushings (4 Per Gun)
Part # not identified
5/8" ID x 1-3/8" OD x 7/16" Thick
Replace with Ball Bearing Part: http://www.gokartsupply.com/bearings.htm

Specialty Items
Gears - (Very Hard to find replacement parts at this time)
Options are finding a rare t2 rebuild kit, 3D Printing, custom machine cutting or cannibalize old guns)

Pinion Gear
Part #03-8529

Gear Drive
Part #03-8528

Buttons
Rocket Button -
Part # 5641-12864-00

(Workaround: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7C443C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and sand down inner half of button opening to thread button, this mod allows owner to put $1 button in place of a $50 NOS part -credit f1tech)

Trigger Return Spring
Part #10-429

I bought new bearings for my Revolution X guns (there are 4 total in one gun) from this site.

Part:
Precision Sealed Ball Bearings
5/8" ID x 1-3/8" OD x 7/16" Thick

I took a look at your Rev X rebuild post -- great job!

The guns looks somewhat similar, big difference being the double pinion that drives the left/right pot.

I'm curious if some of those gears could be used in a T2 rebuild??

Also, concerning the ball bearings is it that one size x4 for each gun, or did you have to purchase different sizes?

Thanks,
Jj

So what would be the wearable parts on the gun pcb, or driver board i guess?

the two caps?
Some transistors?
Resistor R94 is far from white... it could get too warm?

My coils are in very nice shape almost NOS. But I just want to make sure I get the most out of them...

All 4 bearings are the same size. Also, the part number you have listed for the tigger spring is incorrect.

Trigger spring part #:10-465

Bearing part #: 20-10109

The bushings that are listed may work for Rev X, but they are nowhere near the right size for T2.

Has anyone found replacements for the T2 ones?
