It started with left flipper issue, sticking probably dirty coil so i ordered a coil. it came in and it is the wired different then a stock coil but didnt notice this until after it blew fuses left and right. It appeared the diodes on this coil were routed backwards to the factory coil direction. I finally wired it up right but feel i may of hurt it.

Update::::::: we bought 2 correct coils and the flipper rebuilb kit as well with all the rubbers for the machine while I'm at it.

This baby was a scavanged part special before i got it. if they needed a coil they would grab an old one off the machine over there not too concerned about the fitment. Then there are some pretty scary fixes, wrong coils, rewired wrong, wrong fuses in wrong places....maybe they just ran out of 3 amp fuse so decided a 5amp is ok to use. either way i will get it tackled and be playing by the end of the week hopefully. sorry for the weird train of thot. its been an adventure. regards, paul

Coils themselves hardly ever go bad. They never get dirty because they have a plastic sleeve that is inserted in them, and you insert the flipper mechanism into that. The coil sleeve needs to be replaced, and you said you bought a rebuild kit which is great, but I would not automatically replace the coil.

Also, depending on where you bought the rebuild kit, it might or might not have come with the play field bushings. Those are those plastic things that attach to the play field that the flipper bats go through. You want to replace those as well.

Fixing the fuse issues, is important. If someone stuck a 5 amp in a 3 amp spot, that circiut is now over fused and is not good to keep that way.

i took those out. and replaced with the right ones. your right about having the right fuse, i can only imagine what kinda issues would happen if a curcuit was overfused,,,meltdown maybe huh? scary
