My Terminator 2 Judgement Day cab is fixing up nice. Found a couple issues tonight. When I bought it I didn't know it was supposed to have gun recoil or flash bulbs.

1. Where are the flash bulbs located? I've looked EVERYWHERE. I think my cabinet might be missing them. I found an area when I take the rear door off, right above the rear door in the back that has wire hooks but there is no wire or circuit boards.

2. My control panel fuses for the gun recoil solenoids blow after the startup recoil. I'm guessing I need new solenoids? Where can I order these?

Thanks

The flash board is on top when you open the back panel, if your recoil fuses are blown at startup then you might have a short somewhere

My flash bulbs and board are definitely missing...

I checked over my gun solenoids again, and tried a few more fuses. They definitely try to move the solenoids but seem like they don't have enough power then blow. One solenoid is actually stuck and I cant even move it with my hand. Any ideas where I can get replacements?

I have a listing on eBay for 3 boards and full jamma harness, best for back up if you're keeping the game forever.

Hey, Scott! I'm currently having the same issue with a Terminator 2 game I'm troubleshooting. The connection of the gun harness to the cabinet harness appears to have had some soda spilled on it though, so perhaps that's where my issue started.

My plan is to separate the connectors and give them a good cleaning. Following that, I'll check the continuity and impedance of the solenoid as well as verify the drain diode is healthy. Then it's tracing continuity back to the driver board. Luckily, much of this work can be done without having to take the guns apart.

If everything checks out there, the next task will be verifying voltages are getting to where they're supposed to be.

I'll post an update with what I find, hopefully you've gotten your game fixed by now!

Welcome GizmoGear.

This is a 10 year old thread and the poster hasn't posted here in 8 years.

Cleaning is a very good idea. However, the original connectors are idc connectors (the wire punches down into them). These connectors kind of stink.

Replacing them with molex .156 connectors might help.

Also check your voltage. Both at the A/C transformer and than the D/C going to the guns/lamps.

Good luck on your repairs.

I had very low hopes that OP would respond, haha. Thanks for your answer, though! I agree that the original connectors aren't great, particularly the z-header. I will still post my findings here in the off chance someone else has this problem down the line.

So, for anyone who has had these issues, here's my update:

It would appear that the +21V bus was shorted to ground at some point (likely from that spilled soda) and burnt out all the bulbs and cooked the gun coils. The coil sleeves had been deformed by the heat and the plunger didn't have a full path of travel.

Replacing the bulbs solved the bulb issue and now I'm waiting for a replacement coil to come in.
