Does anyone have pictures of how the flash bulbs in a T2 upright should be located? I remember a thread on some forum (maybe here but I can't find it) where someone had the back of theirs open but I forget how they go in.

Essentially I have a Revolution X and the audio board is dead so I'm MAMEing the cab (properly with groovymame and all the outputs working). I'm not a big fan of the game anyway but it'd be easy enough to convert back to Rev X should I feel like it.

I've gotten myself a NOS hit effect sheet for behind the mirror (luckily it's the same mirror and same size) and the right bulbs/holders for them which I'm going to mount on some custom made boards but I just don't know where to put them.

While I'm at it, does anyone know where I can get hold of new solenoids for the guns? They are both a little weak to different degrees.

What are you connecting the flash lamps and gun solenoids to? Have there been major advances in MAME and its abilities to control these type of outputs?

It depends when you last looked but yes they can run exactly as the original hardware did.

A program called MAMEHooker will "see" outputs which MAME sends it (so long as the particular game has outputs set up in MAME) then you can assign them to an Ultimarc Pacdrive (or LEDWiz I believe) which will drive things like LEDs directly but for solenoids and the like it sends a ground signal leaving them to be powered by an external PSU.

All outputs are ROM controlled so behave as the real thing would.

Here's a video of my old twin racer running supermodel (which now also supports outputs the same way MAME does):

Thanks to groovymame also not only can the correct resolution be obtained but also the correct refresh rate so gone are the days of screen tearing or sound stuttering. If a game uses multiple resolutions (ST-V/PSX Based etc) it'll switch them on the fly too.

So yeah, pretty cool things you can do with a PC these days!

Bulbs are in the top for the flash. You have to pull the mirror to get to them.

I was just wondering really how they are mounted like what sort of angles as I remember they looked like they were not just mounted horizontally. I think I'll need to do some experimenting.
