Hi All,

I have the opportunity to pick up a Terminator 2 arcade. I am mostly an older classic arcade guy and have little (well no) experience with the newer games...

So, I played the game a bit years and years ago and I seem to remember enjoying it....From doing some searches here, most people enjoy the gameplay but I have not read much about reliability of the game. Is the machine for the most part solid or can I expect gun issues and other problems down the road? Are parts easy to find? Not sure if the guns are interchangeable with any other arcade game guns....

The price is reasonable considering our local market ( <$400 ) but the machine looks pretty darn heavy so I want to make sure I do not end up with a giant paperweight...Also, I have picked up a few cabinets in the last few weeks so I will be pushing the limits of the old lady's good nature...

thanks for any comments

I have heard they are fairly reliable. The guns are prone to cracking due to the recoil. Guns are hard to find and expensive. They are often picked up to do Mame projects. I have heard others say the game itself is fairly short. Fun to play though. Buyers often do not know there are light bulbs for special effects and they are usually burned out. It uses the same bulbs and bulb holders as the T2 pinball machine. I do not know where they are mounted but will be green circuit boards with multiple bulbs on each.

Thanks Jody. I believe the seller may have some extra parts so if I buy the unit I will try to get some spare parts....really kind of torn here....I think if the price was not so reasonable, I would not even consider this type of game....

Any think the gameplay is ok for kids? I have some nephews who I think will love the game....Not sure that the girls will enjoy it though....

I had one and it was a solid game. There were some issues with the guns because the pivot points were worn and they would jump gears on the pots. I was able to add a couple washers and they tightened up fine. I'd say go for it.

T2 is a great game. I have one and love it. So far, my guns haven't gone down. The cab is large and heavy. for $400 it's a no brainer. I paid $600 for mine 8 years ago. If you check ebay, you'll find the guns up for sell. I'm still looking for revolution x to put in it.

errr, it looks pretty heavy but any idea how heavy?? I thought asteroids was pretty heavy and moving any cab that has a 25" monitor I find is not much fun at all...

I looked online and I found conflicting info on the weight of the cab....Can one guy move it around on a dolly without crashing?...

Just to give you some background, I have dropped a couple of games off my dolly trying to move them around by myself....One I messed up the chassis and the other resulted in no damage....I am a little gunshy to say the least....

I need to move this t2 into a garage but eventually it needs to go into my basement.....

I've owned one... it's a fun game as long as you keep it to a credit or two. If you blow through the game on continues it gets old... quick... and you're old lady is going to bitch about the noise likely (I know mine did). I removed the fuse from one sides gun to turn off the recoil for those nights when the game would be too loud to play with the recoil.

pretty fun rail shooting game as I recall. I'm not sure about issues but personally I want it's cousin/conversion game Revolution X. T2 has less issues as I've heard the sound board on Revolution X can break and is currently unrepairable.(I hope not if I find a 2P one. It's not much fun if "Music is the Weapon" and I can't hear the tunes!)

I have a friend's one in my basement. Loved it back in the day, but it doesn't get played now. Revolution X or Area 51 is a better choice.

It's one of my least favorite games to move around especially trying to get it up on the handtruck. Other than that pretty reliable so far and gets a ton of play still.

Spoke to the seller. There are 3 cabs and i would have to salvage best parts to create one cabinet. Not my forte but seller may do the work and sell as completed. Decision is on hold right now.

Those machines are hard to sell if you get bored with it. Rv x is a a lot better game. How do you think he ended up with 3 of them? No one will buy those things hardly, I got a pair of them for like 75 on ebay a few years ago. So make sure you want to keep it!

I didn't want to clutter the other t2 thread so I revived this one....deal fell through with original seller but found another t2 locally. I was looking at the pictures and I thought one of the pic was a bit off.

I have included the pic here for the group to look at.....Maybe its the reflection or angle, but I kind of think the monitor looks small...am I crazy or does this look like a 19" monitor???

Right thanks. Game is in the guys basement. Uggghhhh gonna pass I think. Don't feel like struggling to get that heavy game out of the basement. Guess that probably means I am not really that keen on the game.
