My last visit i called a op in Knoxville who had a MaxRPM in good cond and he said it is on sale he said $750, i said forget it, what is with the ops down in Tnn, there prices seem to be double from the northeast , are the values more? when i move down there will my games double in price. the labor pay scale is low in Tenn and high game prices ,here in the northeast high pay scale low prices his prices are more then Automated services if that's possible, so what am i in for? will i find deals , i do not know how anyone could buy games at those price and working for low wages... not that i am on a high pay scale but come on....

Well do us a favor Stu and stay up in the great North. You would not last too long down here anyway.

Are you harassing him? Is that a threat? Sound's personal too me.

No harassing I did not mean it in a mean way. I am just trying to save him the heart ache of moving somewhere he will not be happy. I thought I was doing him a favor

Yeah well, sometimes people don't know what your own intent of a message is. Better be careful, people have gotten reported for less.

...what is with the ops down in Tnn...?

Hell if I know.

Personally, I'm still waiting for evidence that games can be had for nice prices due to the poor state of the collecting market. In my experience (locally), when buying, the value of games only gets greater and greater each year.

That is not a bad thing, I would rather collect something that is going up in value. I know a lot of guys say they are not in it for the money which is fine. But it is kind of like the guy who pays 1000's for a nice old Mustang he would not want it going down in value. Games here are no more money than any where else. Well maybe Califorina where they seem to be everywhere and cheap. Stu bitches because he cannot buy cheap games down here. What Stu forgets to tell everyone is he wants them for next to free. We may be slow down here but we are not dumb and can see thru that shit fast.

well Dale since you know my finance's i will say- i look at like this ,would i buy a Seawolf 2 that you would sell for $900 working plus shipping say $200 that is a total of...$1k no if i wanted to sell it, for anouther game like my grail i would loose, i sold my non working Seawolf 2 for $95.00 ,so i am real on arcade prices not cheap if i found my grail for $200, yes i would buy it and saying i am cheap you need to understand why i shop for the best price, and here is a good example -so you know if i buy a game not working say for $200 that is fine i know it will cost $X to get it fixed and if i sell it i would get all money back not make a profit but get my money back, and if i spend $1k on a game i better hope not to sell it in my life time, Dale how about this, would you spend $900 for game that the value is $200????

correct, you figure a OP would want to support local collectors and times are tight with people spending, you figure a Op would want to shed some overhead and bring money to the local enviroment, i know my local OP here in CT has had a game i want for $980 last year i called last week ,he still has it and on e bay for $600 now he is bringing the value in line with the maket, yea i know OP's have over head well so do i, i have to pay electric, heat for my shop and my time and gas to pick games so that excuse is out the window and if i was spending say,,, 6K on storage a month and selling maybe 2 games a month i would want to lower prices to bring more money in ,they are in the bussiness to make money they buy games CHEAP.....

I really think your biggest problem is communication. I have no idea what you just said.

You live in a fantasy world, you will not like living down here. You should rethink it Stu

Well Stu,
Let me be the first to welcome you to state of TN. I live in the north east of TN so you had me a bit confused. First a few words about TN and the south in general. Like up north, we have retail stores and auctions for arcade machines. You can find a very nice auction in Kingsport (auction game sales) that will have prices more in line to what you are looking for. But just like up north, retailers here usually cater to wealthier individuals with little technical training in electronics(ie doctors, dentist, lawyers, etc.) who usually just want to decorate their new billiards rooms in their 300K houses. So you have a storefront, overhead, and wealthy customers and usually qualified technicians making sure that all the games work well out the door. I think once you get here, if you are willing to travel a few hours for the auctions, you'll be fine.
That being said, let me also be the first to say that the south(and TN) is one of the friendliest places in the world. But nothing pisses off a southerner quicker than a yankee telling him whats wrong with the south. We do in fact have lower pay scales than most of the other regions of the US. Personally, I think its a perpetual punishment for the civil war (but thats just my theory). But I wouldn't expect to get rich in the south. And if you do plan on moving to the south with a great many suggestions on how to improve the area, on behalf of all the south and TN, stay the hell where your at. Everyone will be happier in the long run.
After hearing all this, you decide that you can accept the flaws of the south & can move down here with a joyful heart, look me up at that Kingsport auction. I'll introduce you to the local collectors most of whom will be happy to help you to the best of their abilities.

I can say that prices here in TN tend to be quite high. Not sure if the blame is on low supply of videos in the area, or local dealers with astronomical prices.

There is a new pinball place out in Bucksnort though. Hope to make a visit soon.

I don't see how that place will stay open for long but I am for sure stopping by next time I'm up that way. Thanks for the link.
